Default PvP fun in 70-79 bracket...

I'm planning on getting good crafted gear for PvP when I hit 78 and sit around owning up the 79 bracket for a bit, mostly for shits and giggles.

To cut to the jist of the question: Is the armor dropped to get Frostsavage worth it? Or does it make a group of 4 shams too squishy?

If you were to purchase the level 78 rare set, I'd go with the mail version.
Given that the shammies can wear mail armor.

High armor and a shield is one of the things which make shammies strong versus melee.
At least compared to other casters.

In general, if you are just leveling up, the gear is an enormous improvement over what you have from questing.
But if you plan on pvp gearing, its a waste of gold.
You can battleground and arena (10 losses a week) for better gear, which will come even if you start in free greens you have from questing.
If you plan on pve gearing, instances and then heroics, will also get you better gear.

In short, its a huge up if you want it now.
But, you'll get much better down the road.
And don't need this gear to get it.

If you're planning on getting very close to 80th, and then turning Exp off..
    It might be a consideration.

The mail set has no crit... at all... all mp5 gear sadly...

Well I'm unsure about if I'm going to be turning exp off or not, but I want to spend most of my time in BG's from 78 onwards. I'm also unsure about whether to just go and hit 80 and not worry about the 'twinking' at 79. On the other hand, it looks like a lot of fun :P

It comes down in the end to about 1800 gold, but more importantly probably about 3-4 weeks of time wasted...

I know if I do go to 80, it's pointless for that since I'll be getting gear out my arse very quickly, but was more wondering if it was worth playing around in the 79 bracket for a while, since I'll be going back to being an undergeared 80 in a sea of fully pvp geared people when I do ding there...

Also as a question, when's the arena season expected to reset?

Basically arena seasons and PvE raids advance, basically together.
So sometime very close to 3.3, whenever that is.

If there is a leather set for balance druids, it will be better then cloth.

I'd personally level to 80, even if you do it exclusively in BG's from 78+.
But if you'll have fun at 79 for a while, then go 79 pvp.

70-79 kinda blows. The npc's are not tuned for this bracket and really rape. It takes a whole raid to kill balinda and those frostbolt aoe nearly kills my whole group.

I am really wondering though how alliance can make it all the way down to our keep and not really agro anything while I run into grab their aid station and get hit with a half dozen 78 npc's.
