It really depends on where you are at in gear now, and where you want to be.

I've not heard of Cataclysm Beta yet, so I'm going to assume it will be near (Oct/Nov) of next year.
That could be completely wrong, but my guess is Cataclysm for the Christmas sales.

A brand new team to 80th.
Getting full T9 (set pieces anyway), in a couple of weeks of heroics.
That's a pretty huge upgrade, and will make Cataclysm leveling a ton easier.

If you're already in the best (heroic/honor) gear available.
Not mentioning arena/raid gear even, Cataclysm will already be relatively easy.
They have to balance things for fresh 80's with no gear.

    Thanks for the post, Super.
I've got teams coming up still ).

There will only be 5 more levels in Cata. I have a feeling that T10ish gear will be good until T11 ( unless they over inflate the lvl 81+ greens and blue stats )

Also, after i gear my main team up, I want to raid on one of my guys and see LK die!

In Cataclysm they're supposed to change a lot of mechanics.
We'll want different stats on gear.
Tanks will not need any defense, they'll be crit capped from talents alone.

I'd imagine a lot of the WotLK gear won't be itemized terribly well for changes in Cataclysm.
Still it should be decent gear, until you acquire better Cataclysm gear.

I for one am looking forward to getting my Furious gear from this, shouldn't take long at all

However, I dont see the need for more/better PVE gear at all since I dont plan on raiding at all, and all the 5 mans is allready on farm...

Does anyone know when 3.3 is suppose to hit the shelves?(so to speak)

with how fast the PTR is progressing i'd estimate about another month MAYBE before 3.3. My shamans should be 4/5 t9 maybe even 5/5 and druids 3/5 t9 by then. I won't have much farming to do. Only good thing will be the instances at that point to keep me entertained.

Some of us enjoy trying different setups in the dungeons, seeing how far we can go with all DPS, or other crazy things. If you are multiboxing just to have gear to level up in the next expansion, what is the point of playing the game at all?

I for one plan to gear my 5 toons out so I can do 10mans with friends / Fursphere (he is my 5 best friends XD)

Also, it's cheaper to play Wow than do smack.. think about it!!

EDIT: Oh and i forgot, its fun boxing 25mans and seeing how long you can get away with it without anyone noticing XD My new 5man pvE team has all different names and should be extremely sneaky for those days when you just feel like rolling on any gear you want 2-5x XD thank the blizzard gods for Soulbound 2h trade benefits =)

Having a boomkin, holy priest, warlock and elemental shaman is going to ensure any caster gear is MINE!! lol Druids rolling on cloth? yes pls. Elemental rolling on leahter? yes pls. Shaman rolling on... dont be stupid, we all know theres no elemental gear out there.

Don't forget about the weekly raid quests. Thats like 10 badges? Or is it a mix of frost and triumph? Anyway, thanks for this great info! Ill probably run my shaman through to get the furious pieces, and my mixed team to get T9.

Overgearing can make some encounters that you did before more fun, because you just pwn everything... I bet i could 5 man naxx by now, and itll get easier as i get T9...

    I think he's agreeing with me o.O
Having full t9 will not make it easier, it will be the same, everything dies in one shot even if I'm naked.
Somone else said that t10 gear will last till 85, sure it will, i will have full set on my shaman within 2 or 3 weeks of 3.3 release, but we are talking here about tier 9, which will be much more behind(even stats get all changed come cataclysm)

You'll always end up replacing your gear sooner or later. New gear might enable you to do stuff you haven't done before. Like 10-man instances, or 25-man instances with 1 or 2 other boxers. Basically the better your gear, the fewer people needed (except some encounters due to mechanics etc.). The point of gearing up is the same as it has always been - you don't need conquest gear to do HToC either, so whats the point of getting it? Hopefully it's because you have fun playing the game :-)

In any event, there's always PvP - plenty of challenge for you there, no worries ;-)
