Thread: Map Addon?

  1. #1

    Default Map Addon?

Are there any good map addons for multi boxing?

I need to be able to see herbs and ore clearly while multiboxing. One toon has mining and another has herbalism. Is there a map addon that can 'speak' to the main or just make things easier to find?

    Thanks,

    Drommon

I use Cartographer for all of my toons.

As far as noticing ore/herbs, Fursphere recommended the addon Mappy, which is superb for this.
You can resize it to whatever area you'd like.
And can set resources to strobe flash yellow and blue.

I use Cartographer + Gathermate on my main. I have Herbalism on one slave, Mining on another and Engineering on a third. Only my engineering slave uses Gathermate because the Clouds are hard to see sometimes with a lot of herb and ore spawns in one place, so I enlarge them on his Minimap.

For the minimap, I use Chinchilla so I can have oversized and high-contrast Blips.

I think Carbonite will do what you want. It will show ore and herb spawns on the main map and the carbonite mini map no matter if the driving toon has the skills or not. I find it better than Gatherer. Never tried Cartographer

Gatherer is good in that it will put every possible spawn point for a given herb or ore type.
You can filter out, so you're only finding herbs which you know mill into a specific inscription reagent.

But there might be 25 herbs up in the zone and 100 potential spawn points for the herbs you're searching for.

You can import their database, which is every herb anyone has found across all servers for an extended time period. With Cartographer it will add points to your main map (quite possibly to any map too, not sure on that). Ore works the same as herbs for the database.

You can have it make a heads up display type thing, and resize it. And color where you've been a red shade. Very customizable so you can run a pattern across any zone easily. I found the HUD got in the way, either blocking my vision or too transparent to be useful (but that is configurable too).

A lot of nice tools for it, but I've just moved to dailies for gold, and buy what I need on the AH; I can make "x" per hour gathering/farming etc, but get a ton more just doing dailies on assorted teams.

Chinchilla is pretty cool, you can assign a button to make the mini map huge. I use it with carbonite, so if I'm close to an ore or herb spawn location, just hit the button without having to pip switch.

I love MAPPY. You can scale it to be HUGE on your "alts" - making things easy to see. And it'll disappear on combat, so it doesn't get in your way when it matters.
