I have a lvl 60 shaman I don't use any longer on account A. I'm still in raf and think to level up a few more teams. It's more to make use of my raf and have several classes at 60 than to learn all the ins and outs of the class I'll level (i'll leave that for the future).

Could I run around with A ungrouped and B-C-D-E grouped while following A. A agros the mob, while B-C-D-E kills it. Same story for healing. Also thingking to equip a low level weapon so he can 'do a lot of damage without killing it' and leave an easy finish for the group. Would this work and is it legal?

Yes, outside of instances, tag boosting is perfectly legal. I believe they changed it and you would have to aggro with the lowbies, and then you can kill it with the higher level toon. You either need to kill stuff crazy fast with the high level, or do more damage from the lowbies. I believe exp gained is proportional to the amount of damage that they do.

I ran my warlocks like this, basically they would go all out with leeroy crazy pulls and then out of group and out of combat I would heal them up after life taps. Obviously that's very group make dependent situation.

But even a renew on a pet gimped the xp.

A good trick for RAF grinding is to use a high lvl class that has a "pet"...........warlock, hunter....ever shaman's totems count as pets. As long as you have more than one low lvl grouped together and tag the mob first......a lvl 80 pet(non-grouped) can kill the mob and your lower lvl gets full xp.

Was not aware that it was called 'tagging'. I saw that a (apparently famous) player (athene) got banned doing that when the WoTL was released. So they changed that and it's considered legal now? Sweet

So basically I should lead my team with lowlevel B, /follow lowlevels CDE, all in group with B, and then A (my lvl 60) follows E. And then just run into a mob with B, and fire a light bold/chain light with my 60 to whack the mob(s). And then BCDE should get full raf xp? Sounds like a plan to me :P

Why should my pet (totem in my case) kill the mob instead of my 60? Is it xp related? That seems like a lot of trouble to me, as the damage dealing totems have a rather limited range. But i guess i miss something ...

The other day I ran into Ragefire Chasm to try that out. 4x lvl 60 and 1 lvl 8 or 9 (all within raf), for killing a mob I got 2 xp on the low level. I left, re- grouped with 1 lvl 60 and the low level (both within raf) and got 8 or 12 xp (i forgot what it was and i dont know the xp math). Figured it would take a couple of years at that rate. But i'm sure i'm missing something here, as I read everywhere how 'good' instance boosting is.

Another question: I have 5 accounts, say i'd make a new team of 5 mages. I have my 60 shaman in the same location as where my mages are questing but he is not logged. After combat I log out with 1 mage and log in with my shaman (they are on same account) to heal or resurrect my others. Log out, log back in with my mage, group and continue with questing.

Would this be considered abuse of the system if I repeat this process several times? Not that it is very practical, but I can remember situations where this would've been handy with my noob boxing skills :P

IIRC, what he was banned for was abusing the instance mechanics in conjunction with tag killing, NOT outdoor tag killing.

Edit - 2nd question, why would that be against the rules? I'd just consider it a total waste of time as you're going to spend at least twice as long logging in and out out in the wilds as you would sitting down to eat/drink or running yourself to rez.

The High Level can belong to the group and kill things and the rest of the group Gets XP and yes they get RAF

Just Make sure the High Level (The Leveling) toon does not have quest you want to get RAF experience for in there quest logs. (In short as long as only the RAF toons have the quests and the Leveling toon doesn't then whatever the leveling toon Kills the RAF get credit for.)

That way you don't need the RAF to tag. [The only issue is if a pet kills a mob without one of the group doing damage to the mob (but thats the same for any group)

If you have a high level on account A.
And link your accounts A -- B -- C -- D -- E

BCDE are all level 1's.
And A is in the group with them.

BCDE all get RAF experience.
B is grouped with C, and thus both qualify.
Even though A is way too high for B to qualify based on being together.

It doesn't matter who the group leader is.

Each RAF toon, has to be grouped with a linked account.
Which is no more then 4 levels different... ie level 10 works with levels 6-14.
And RAF bonuses stop at 60th, so if they are 58th and 60th, there is no RAF bonus.

The high level can have the same quest or no quest, that doesn't matter.

Generally... you'd have the highest toon on an existing account.
And 4 new accounts.
Daisy chain them... A-B-C-D-E, so you can cascade grant a bunch of 60's to the boosting account A.
Level a few toons to 3rd or so on A, and be very close to leveling up.
Then boost them to 60th (can grant a level to a 59th or lower, with a 60th).
You'll basically need to level 2 toons from 1st to 60th on B.
For B to have enough levels to boost a lowbie to 60th on A.
But levels E grants to D, half of those D can grant to C, in addition to the levels D already grants to C for having leveled.... The cascade granting effect rocks.




As far as the pet leveling goes.

You need a minimum of two lowbies in the group.
It has to be a group, solo will not work.

The lowbie need to tag the mob... do at least 1 damage.
The mob turns Grey to anyone not in the lowbies group.

Now high levels who can waste the mob quickly, kill it easily.
But they only use pet damage for the kills.
Interestingly enough, Magma Totems are considered Pets.

I leveled a 60th Mage and 60th Druid to 70th (grouped the two).
With 3x level 80 Elemental Shaman's... in Borean Tundra.
I bought all the +STA gear I could find for the mage (Arcane Explosion)...
Killing the rhino type mobs.
Total time, 13 hours, spread over 2 days.
They have 1.50 levels of rested, that was gone in the first 45 minutes.
To save time, I camped them out in the field.
Had 3x Magma on a keybind.
Had 1x Stoneclaw (Taunt Totem with Stun component on a hit) on round-robin.
