It is what you make of it. though, i'm not sure how someone could turn christmas into something about guilt or obligation unless they were just guilty cheap aholes, but that's just my opinion.

I just budget for my hobby. I've nogotiated christmas down to everyone pulls a name out of hat and gives a small personal surprise gift to that person - no vouchers and no wishlists to simple purchase off.

Christmas is about great food, close family and the kids. Let the kids have all the presents.
