    Default /stopcasting then heal help.

    Guys,

Atm i'm levelling so i'm not using a dedicated healer therefore i use a /stopcasting macro..

its pretty basic setup atm with my elemenatal shaman using lightning bolt and elemental mastery. so currently i use to use the following macro

    /stopcasting
    /cast [player=focus] Healing Wave

However i found it unreliable quite often so i changed too

    /stopcasting lightning bolt
    /cast [player=focus] Healing Wave

Seems better again sometimes messes up. Is there a better easier way to override a damage spell to force the character to stop what they are doing and cast the heal?

    your help would be appreciated.

anything after the g in stopcasting is ignored by wow, there is no way to specifiy which spell is stopped.

The unreliability you're seeing is most likely the fact that you are spamming the hell out of the button and stopping the heal as well.
Stopcasting is a curse at times you just have to train yourself to only whack the button once to save someone.

Another way that may work for you, and worked for me in the past was to make a macro solely for the purpose of stopping a cast then bind it to something and spam the separate heal button. This will most likely help you in those panic moments.

In my dps spam macro I use

    /stopmacro [target=mouseover,help]
    /dps macro goes here

as I do all of my healing via unit frame clicking

I tend to try not to use /stopcasting in spam macros and reserve it for emergency heal buttons eg natures swiftness + healing wave

dirty solution to the spam thing, not quite sure how to pass the target to alts though. Gimme a bit more time I'm sure something will come to mind.

    DPS pseudo-macro
    Code:
    /click [target=mouseover,help] healmacrobutton
    /cast dps of doom spell
heal pseudo-macro on that button you told it to click in the DPS macro
    Code:
    /stopcasting
/cast heal of infinite help spell

hm thanks for the suggestions and comments.

I'm using ISBoxer now, which i like far more then my last software.

One thing i know is IS boxer can be used to create clicking areas for heals not really up on it but perhaps i should look more into that.

Mouse Region is easy donuts with ISBoxer.

Shift Alt G - opens up the repeater config.

Select what clients you want to pass the mouse click to for my healer he is slot 2. So I drop down slot 2 add the region.. move it to the section of the screen resize it and save it to the Auto and Shift Alt G to close.. all done.

OK, sounds easy but is there an idiots guide to setting up repeater region somewhere?

    Open ISBoxer Toolkit.

On the top, under Character Sets.
Click on one of the sets.
On the left it should have the set selected.
On the right pane, check the 3rd box down. It reads, "In game ISBoxer GUI toggle hotkey".
To the right pick your hotkey.
    I use Control + Alt + /
    Fizzler uses Shift + Alt + G
You can set it to anything you like.

You'll need an addon to interpret your clicks.
If you use Grid, you'll also need Grid Custom Layouts.
    Type /Grid Config
Click on Layouts and then Advanced.
    Enter ...... order=NAME;
This orders the Grid frame alphabetically.

With the Grid option, you'll also need something like Clique.
I use Grid + Clique, but there are other options.

You can go with Healbot, there is an alphabetical setting.
Or you can go with Vuhdo.
Neither Healbot nor Vuhdo will need Clique, they interpret the clicks on their own.

Position the frame in exactly the same place on every client.

Use your hotkey for the IS Boxer Repeater GUI interface.
I generally check KVM mode, so the click doesn't change my active toons target.
Pick the client(s) you'd like the clicks to pass to.
I believe the choice is all others, or a specific slot.
If you have two healers you could do a repeater for each fairly easily.
Drag the window over the Grid frame and resize to your liking.
Hit the Sync button to ensure the repeater region is the same on the healer (covering their Grid Frame).
If need be, adjust the position of their Grid/Vuhdo/Healbot frame.
    Save it as Auto.
This means it will work without needing to load it, just starting up ISBoxer in the future.
Close the Repeater GUI, via your hotkey.

    *Edit*
You can create a repeater region for every member of your team, who is not the healer.
That way, no matter what toon you are on, you can click heal from that toon.

You can also use modifiers with your clicks.
I like to have normal left/right clicks do nothing, so my priest can target a toon or open trade with them.
You can use any of the buttons on your mouse, such as forward thumb button.

    I'm using:
    Forward Thumb = Holy Nova.
    Backward Thumb = Penance.
    Alt Left = Renew
    Alt Right = Flash Heal.
