    Default Aion bored

I don't have much time to play right now but I have become bored of Aion. Leveling takes forever especially if you do not have time to play 6 hrs a day. Most of the quest are really bad. You go kill x # of mobs then return for the quest to repeat for even lower xp. It's a cheap way to make you grind. The crafting is totally confusing. I have not pvped yet so I cannot comment on that. My character is lvl 22 and all I do is press these keys. 2,3,4,5 and then repeat on the next mob. The graphics are nice but this game is not for someone who wants to level casual. I played for an hr and a half the other day and only gained a few bars of xp.

I hope the new Star Wars MMO is better.

    Hey Pinot,

Sorry Aion's not working out for you. The game is pretty and looked kind of interesting, but I decided to keep my game time in WoW.

This weekend I leveled up one toon's herbalism from 0 to 400 and leveled up 5 toons at once from 0 to 450 alchemy! If you are going to level one, you may as well level 5. Now with all of them as master transmuters (in addition to the other 2 I already had), the money should roll in from epic gems. Anyway, it was actually pretty fun. That and ToC10 are keeping the game fun for me.

I hope whatever you play you are enjoying.

I thought Toc10 was impossible to box? Your insane doing all that leveling. With wow I reached the point of thing really matters because they just raise everything every 3 months. Plus it just got boring. I didnt have the time either. Maybe I will come back some day.

Naxx was a lot of fun. Soloing it, figuring out the fights, the excitement of really accomplishing something when each new boss went down to my two 10-man groups while they were in blues.

Since then the raids are way too frenetic - Blizzard has done some things to the raids to make them more interesting for single-boxers and we multi-boxers can't keep up. I don't think anyone is going to solo Ulduar or ToC10 unless they severely outgear the instnace and don't need any drops. So I think the days of improving your team in raids solo are over.

Pinot, you are right about gear always going by the wayside, but having 20 toons that are geared enough to do the latest raid content is fun. I can join a team, check out the gear the others have, and switch to another toon that can benefit from the drops others already have

It is true that leveling up professions is probably the only thing I'm doing right now that will last for the long tern, but I'm still finding ways to have fun.

I'm a few inches from 2x30 but I watched a ton of TV instead of playing ... taking a small nap/break from Aion...

The announcement of Cataclysm and level 85 upcoming gear reset (in addition to Aion's release) is what contributed my me stopping my wow subs... why gear my level 80s when I'll get better 85 blues in a few months...
2,3,5 boxing wow with Wow Open Box and MAMA, give them a try!
(was 8 Boxing Wow with HotKeyNet and ISBoxer)

A few months, what makes you think Cataclysm will be released that soon? Just curious, I assumed Fall 2010

    Hey Pinot -

Sorry you're not having fun in Aion. I completely understand where you're coming from though especially regarding your frustrations with the leveling treadmill. So far, I've leveled a Chanter up to 33, a Spiritmaster up to 38, Glad up to 20, Sorc up to 24, and an Assassin up to 20. I've tried to enjoy the game in its entirety, but really - beyond the beautiful graphics, the world is small and rather dull. Not to mention that when you get to 36-37, it starts to take about 20 hours to gain a level (I've been watching my time while grinding and doing relevant quests in an area, and honestly it's a giant time sink, nothing more.) And if you get to 38... well, let's just say that I've been killing the same s*it for exactly 23 hours now and I'm still only 40% through the level (wooot... another 23+ hours of pressing keys 1-9 and I'll be level 39!!!)

The other problem with Aion is that it's economy is entirely cash based; a lot of great items can be crafted, and many of the other items can be purchased from the broker (auction house) on a whim. I haven't experienced/seen any great "end-game" items like we had in WoW; where I'd bring some of my characters to a raid in an attempt to earn something cool. I think that in Aion, you're almost better off farming for Kinah and then spending it in the brokerage...

That being said, my sub ends on the 22nd (I already canceled my 2nd account), and I won't be coming back... unless I want to torture myself .

Here's links to my 2 best chars - the Spiritmaster has a Fabled item and mostly Heroic gear, the Chanter is in full Heroic gear:

After hearing that I am canceling my account too. Leveling takes forever at 22 and I cannot imagine going all those hours and not even level.

Before canceling your aion remember they will bump up quest xp in upcoming patch (1.5.1) by as much as 10x from some quests - it should make leveling through questing much more effective / less grindy

About cataclysm, yes maybe it's still 10 months out - that's still too close to be worth grinding to gear up my 80s for me - I will restart wow a few months before cataclysm launches to gather some gold (or earlier if I give up on Aion)
