Thread: Facepalm moment

    Default Facepalm moment

So I bought dual specialization this weekend and my main spec is PvE so I setup a PvP spec on the second one on all 5 shaman. I go into some AVs and notice that my reincarnation doesn't pop anymore. So initially I just thought it must be on cooldown and once I get out of the BGs I forget about it.

Later on I am doing some quests and need to find something underwater. So I switch to my reagentless water breathing shaman but water breathing is greyed out and it tells me it needs a reagent. So now I am really suspicious and pop open my glyphs. Glyphs are empty /facepalm

I didn't realize you get a second set of glyphs to go with your talents as well.

Once I farmed toc normal for hours (Abyss crystals)

I did the hole run, zoned out to find out I couldt reset the instance - Just to realize that one of my slaves was still on mount inside instance, not moving the entire run.

    /rofl
That's like picking up a quest and not noticing one of your slaves got stuck on a pole somewhere and didn't get the quest and 3 or 4 quests down the chain you suddenly realize and you have to go back and do it all again.

The first time you experience this... you're like, why did that happen.
Hopefully you don't experience this a second time.

I've "thought" I had done the glyphs on a second spec for toons.
But in reality had only made a mental note that I had to.

Kind of sucks when you realize you should have known to do this, but didn't.

I can't remember who it was, but awhile back someone posted a /facepalm where one of their shaman alts was constantly disenchanting a piece of gear, and only found out about it after re-farming it once or twice. That, in my opinion, is the all-time greatest.

I was boosting recently doing SM runs, when I realized for like 4 runs one of my alts had not zoned in =/. So they were like a level and some change ahead of them, or clearning an instance for heroic daily and realizing one guy didnt have the quest or forgot to pick up the item =/.

haha I remember reading that post. He somehow accidentally hit a button that did disenchant, then hit a macro that targeted his trinket and his disenchanted like 4 trinkets before he figured out what's going on.

I did some macro changes way back in BC and accidentally DE'd both of my trinkets.

Only good thing out of the entire ordeal was that Blizzard restored the trinkets and let me keep the shards.

For those who want to know how it happened (to prevent more /facepalm moments)...
My nuke macros had /use 13 and /use 14 (trinket slots).
I was farming kills in Halaa and in between running around and gathering motes from the gas clouds.
My first bar on all of my toons is left open for their professions.
My Engineer had his mote extractor on the third slot of the first button bar.
My Enchanter had his DE spell in the same slot.

So after extracting a cloud, my chanter was ready to DE something. I went back to Halaa and spammed my nuke macro and instead of casting a spell he DE'd the trinket in slot 13. It wasn't until after I DE'd the second one that I knew something was horribly wrong. It was that time in which I actually noticed the DE graphic. The reason why I didn't see that I received a purple shard was because at the same time I was receiving the PvP tokens you get for kills in Halaa and it was scrolling my chat window. Had I not noticed the graphic, I probably would have went a long time without trinkets on my chanter.

So the rule of thumb is - don't put your DE spell on a bar. Period.
