Thread: New annoyance

    Default New annoyance

    Just have to vent...

We all know the target dummies in the major cities are a great tool to use, to check dps and such - I've become a big fan of them, and test out builds and gear and rotations out on them constantly.

Last night, I was testing out some new gear and gems, and testing baseline damage (no buffs, pets, etc...), and then with buffs, with pets, etc...

What is it, that makes players have no impulse control? The entire time I'm doing this, everything from level 2 bank alts to passing 80's jump in and start whacking away. Can they not resist the urge to annoy and bother someone else? This isn't isolated, either, it happens every time I use the dummies.

It's not a big deal, but it's just yet another example of how the average WoW player just sucks. Thankfully it doesn't mess up the results, that I can tell.

I even asked one of them, "Why are you doing that?". Response? "I dunno. LOL"

I never used the training dummies until I multi-boxed.

Most people have no idea what they are for (or what the can be used for), or what you are doing.

You view it so negatively - but perhaps they are just trying to help you kill the damn thing.

They've seen you standing there for half an hour at a time - throwing everything you've got at that evil target dummy and still you haven't killed it.

To be honest I just think people attack them for fun or when they're bored / waiting for Ring of Valor queue to pop. Could try asking them not to attack it? :P I don't know for sure whether or not their damage counts toward yours on Recount but I'm fairly certain it doesn't have any effect.

LOL, too funny. And, yet, probably so true.

I don't think everyone has really learned their purpose. Normally the dummies are just standing there in the corner all by themselves, so people ignore them. But when someone else is "fighting" it, maybe they join in to see if they gain something from it. Maybe it magically buffs you if you fight it a little bit, or unlocks an achievement! If nothing else, probably just the novelty of having attacked it at least once if they haven't before.

I don't understand. Why does it remotely matter that someone else is whacking away on the target dummy? It's what it's there for.

Depending on who attacks it CAN fubar your results - have someone lay into it and debuff the dummy with Misery, there goes your numbers if you're looking for baseline.

Ya, they probably need to add some more of the highest level ones. There is only 1 in Org that I saw. Not sure about other Horde cities.

Personally, I think people just don't realize that some people actually use them for testing. I suppose it's like killing chickens or cows or whatever. Serves no purpose but people drive-by off chickens all the time.
