Crowd Control setup
Hello everyone.
I am currently redesigning my crowd control setup since I am not satisfied with the way I did it until now. My current setup uses Jamba Target, where I assign symbols to enemies and changed the target macros in Jamba to cc the mobs (since I found this nice little explanation on Jafula's website about it; thanks for that!).
The real problem is, I can only assign cc targets when I am out of combat. As I understand it, it is a limitation in the WoW API.
Now I would like to change my setup to also work while in-combat. Adds happen, and also, I play on a PVP Realm and might need to assign a Polymorph on the fly. Mousing over to my mage's window works, but I want a hotkey.
I am looking for suggestions and criticism on the way I now plan my new setup. Going to explain how I am thinking of realizing it for now, but always open to suggestions and improvement. I use a FTL setup, so my focus target is not used and available for crowd control (this is what I plan for). My toons usually have either the mob they are dpsing as their target, or should something go wrong with my macros or lag, my main character and nuke his target.
Currently I plan on these buttons/macros (using not in-game macro commands but just logical expressions since I am not that good writing macros without any reference here at work):
Button 1:
if mage's focus is not alive then clear focus
if focus does not exist then take current target as focus
if focus exists and is alive and is harmful then cast polymorph on it
Button 2:
target the current party leader (respecting FTL; I have a macro for this already)
if target's target is harmful and alive then take it as focus
Basically I would use Button 2 to setup a new target to cc. I have to add a modifier to overwrite the current focus even if it is alive, probably with a key modifier like shift pressed or something. Have to work that part out yet. After that I can just use Button 1 to actually cc the focus. The reason I use two buttons is that I have multiple characters with cc in my group, so I could use Button 2 for each character with different bindings, but have the Button 1 on each character and thus broadcasted.
Thanks for reading so far.
How does it sound and how would you do it better? If you have a working setup, feel free to paste your macros and explain your way of doing it. Always love input.
