    Default Belf team composition

I have 2 Belf teams and 2 other Belf all at level 60. I am entertaining a team composition and would like your input.

    I have 5 DK, 1 Paladin, 1 Warlock, 2 Mages, 1 Hunter, 2 Priests.

I like instancing more than questing. I also want to use a DK and Mage for all builds. Mostly because I really want to see how a DK would work in a mixed team and because I love the mage portal ability.

Some ideas I have are in order of tank, heals, dpsx3.

DK, Holy Paladin, Warlock, Mage, Shadow Priest <- this combo has a lot of buffs plus an off tank
DK, Holy Paladin, Mage, Shadow Priest, Shadow Priest
DK, Priest, Hunter, Mage, Warlock <- Lots of dps from hunter and warlock plus off tanks
DK, Holy Paladin, Shadow priest, Mage, Mage
DK, Priest, Shadow priest, Mage, Mage <- kinda boring

Here are some that don't follow my rules but I would like to entertain.

Warlock, Priest, Shadow priest, mage, hunter <- Warlock pet as tank
Warlock, Holy paladin, Shadow priest, mage, Hunter <- Warlock pet as tank. This team has a lot of buffs

Can a holy paladin make it as a dedicated tank healer?

I am liking the first combo a lot.

    Any thoughts?

The Holy Paladin is an exceptional single target healer.
However, they are seriously lacking in party or AoE type heals.

In encounters where the damage is focused on one toon, they'd be great.
But if everyone is taking damage, which is often the case, they have issues.

A shaman (chain heal), druid (wild growth) or priest (holy nova, prayer of healing) have a much easier time as the healer when boxing. I'm not saying the pally will not work, but the priest is much easier.

    Pally tank. This is all.

    Pally Tank and Shaman Healer.

That really is all.. oh and 3 DPS of it-doesn't-really-matter variety.

Considering that this is a Belf team, I am going to have a hard time coming up with a Belf shaman

In regards to a Pally tank.... I almost consider that class as cheating for multiboxers. It is the easiest to use and with a shaman healer + shaman dps.... means no fun for me. I enjoy the challenge of a mixed class party and macroing them to overcome Bosses in instances. Those who use mixed teams also become very savvy in 5 classes rather than just 2 classes.

    Another combo came to mind.

    Tank - Death Knight
    Healer - Priest
    DPS - Ret Palaldin
    DPS - Mage
    DPS - Warlock

This is a combo with 2 melee and 3 casters. With click to intereact I can have the pally come in and do her thing. This could be very challenging to pull off right I think. I did an all melee with pallys and Dk's already. I also have used a rogue for DPS in the past with little success. I am little worried the the ret pally might pull aggro, so this would require extra management . But then again if she does then it is still away from the clothies.

Do you think it can be done?

    Your last team can work.

A Pally tank is by far the easiest to box with.
    If you're set on DK-Tank and Pally-DPS that's fine.
I'd personally swap the two, and go Pally-Prot and DK-Blood.

The warlock is easy to macro ranged dps.
I'd take a druid or shaman over a mage, but with a BE only team neither is an option.
The mage can go Frost for replenishment and macro ease.
Or go with Fire (will need something like MSBT to announce procs).
Or Arcane which is easy to macro too, but is a mana pig.

The priest will easily heal either melee as tank and the other as DPS.

Come to think of it... I may have to use a pally for the tank anyway. The DK would be great for dps and to use as an off tank. I kept thinking i wanted to pull with death grip. You know there are cases where you want to do that. If I used targettarget on my priest either the pally or the DK will get healed if they pull aggro. So I can liken this setup as having 2 tanks and just use the right one for the situation. The pally I can spec prot/ret and the DK blood/frost. And just switch as needed. You cannot switch specs in BGs but you can in instances. Hmmm, I am liking this idea a LOT

The assist based healing is good, if you want to use the keyboard for heals.
Having discovered repeater regions, I find the click healing to be far superior.

    But they both work.

My blood elf team is at 70 atm and soon to be resurrected. Pally, Priest, Mage, Warlock, Hunter. Too much cloth in there to be really comfortable. I am starting to get excited about using the /click dps macro approach for them as it might make syncing the DPS a lot easier than it has been historically.

Looking forward to hearing more of your progress. Might just stimulate me enough to sit down for a day or two and spec/macro/keybind the girls.
