Thread: Geforce 295

    Default Geforce 295

Hey guys, thisquite frankly is pissing me off, been messing with it all day....
For whatever reason I cannot get wow to utilize both GPUs in my 295, it's sitting at around 50-60% load at all times, even though it's struggling for FPS. My CPU load is fine across all cores(Average about 60% load), RAM useage is about 75%, my HD load is about 1mb/s so it cant be that either. I've tried installing windows7, but quite frankly it's just way worse then it is in Vista, I had to lower the settings on my instances from running ultra on main and medium on the slaves to lowest on the slaves and 'high' on the main to even get playable FPS. But for now it's what I'm working with since I heard good things(Though I havn't seen anything good about it yet :P).

So if anyone got a heads on how to spread the load across both GPUs I sure would appriciate it.

A lot of the X2 cards, with two physical cards on one board have this issue.

I suggest you give InnerSpace a try. They handle 2 graphics cards or 2x cards differently then WoW does.
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor
    MultiBoxers play with themselves

Yeah I have been Al, but even following Lax's instructions(seemed to be working, it started the games as it should with second gpu ect.) the load is still sitting at 50-60% on the gfx card.
Been switching between win7 and win vista and vista is still running best, but like I said, cant use more then 60% load on the GPU, which means only one GPU used for WoW.

If you are using more than 50% of your GPU potential, I would believe you are using both GPUs.

Unless one GPU is pushing 120% capacity.

I would look for other bottlenecks. What are the rest of your system specs?

It's an I7 920, OCed to 3.6ghz, 6gb RAM and I run two 60gb OCZ Vertex(SSD) in RAID0 where I got my system and my wow folder on. I am pretty confident it's the GFX that's the bottleneck here, since I can easily stress it to get about 90% load on the GPU on a normal benchmark.

Your having the problem for the same reason people that have 3 video cards have - WoW very strongly likes to use the primariy video card to do all the processing and its difficult to trick it into using the others.

Sure you might have 2x or 3x cards but if check their load, all the 3D side of the crunching its being done by one GPU only.

For that exactly reason I bought a ATI 5870 over a GTX 295. I really wanted more Video RAM but it wasn't worth it for the dual-gpu issues.

I also use a GTX 295 and IS with an 920 at 3.4GHz, 12G RAM and 2 x Intel X25Ms. I use a single 30" monitor with active client taking up the bulk of the screen and the 4 others down the right side.

My graphics options are ultimate on the main but with the shadow effects set to minimum. I find this is a major killer, even when I am running a single client in azeroth I will get sub max fps (but still playable).

Graphics on the alts is set to minimum on all and I have no problems at all with this in instances.

Where my graphics struggle is in Dal. I run around on the main getting 20-30fps in most situations there, although on porting, this can dip to 10. I never use follow because of it, but it is slightly annoying to get choppy performance at all. To be honest I have not looked at my graphics usage much, but I will check it out more closely and get back to you.

    Cheers

Where can I find these instructions? I'm currently trying out ISboxer and I have an SLI system. It'd be great if I could have the slaves rendered on the second GPU while the main is rendered on the first.

Likewise. I am looking for these instructions as well.
