Control panel reports wrong cpu speed

I have a dell i ordered an athlon 64 x2 dual core 5000+ 2.6ghz
and SIW reports it as that as does belarc adviser
but the control panel reports it as athlon 64 x2 dual core 5000+ (from there the speed is always wrong it usually says 1.80ghz and i just looked and it said 989mhz) is this something with the bios should i worry about it is it throttling my system or just getting reported wrong

all of the sudden i close it and reopen and now it says 2.61 WTF is the deal here

Probably nothing to worry about. I think you are just seeing the effects of AMDs Cool'n'Quiet technology which usually can be disabled in the bios

Yea... probably clock speed adjustments based on CPU load.
