Thread: Account hacked

  1. #1

    Default Account hacked

Just had one of my accounts looted but thankfully it was the only account without an 80 and only had my 73 shaman leveling on it and missing 1200g. It isn't much but it was going to my epic flying fund. This account wasn't originally mine, it was a friends who quit that said I could have it so I started to multibox. I've been paying for the account for months but if I opened a petition to blizzard would they ban all of my accounts or is this not considered account sharing? The odd thing is none of my other accounts had anything stolen from them but this one.

Yes, they'll ban all your accounts. Yet another benefit of the Blizzard authenticator: protects users from getting bitten by their own stupidity.

You have been paying for your friends account and using it. This is bannable by the TOS and EULA. I would suggest you stop using it and open another account in your name. All accounts should be in your name and preferably with the same payment option. Each account should be identical in their account info so that there is no speculation about whose account it is.

Soooo your account didn't really get hacked, your friend's did. Any number of things that could have happened there. Maybe they sold it, maybe they trashed it themselves, maybe your friend wasn't the original owner to begin with.

Ya strange they only got your friends account and not your own. That would tell me that your friend got the virus/keylogger OR he stole it back and stripped it. (it happens, people are weird)

Thank you for your input. I know I was being a dumbass and was being cheap by risking my account security over spending an extra $300. My friend that quit wouldn't have striped it and he hasn't played for a long time and has removed it since he quit. I doubt a trojan on his computer would have affected the account.

And just to put icing on the cake, you can't even transfer toons you've leveled on the 2nd account over to your other account(s) as the owner name has to match to be eligible.

Well, sorry to hear it, and it sucks to have happened.

Kind of a painful process, but you'll want all of the accounts in your name.
Better to lose one account now, then to lose them all for sharing at some point in the future.

That almost sounds like sarcasm, but I'm curious as to where you're getting the $300 figure from?
