Best way to break follow?

I'm trying to get back in to boxing and made the switch to ISBoxer.

I did the quick setup which allows me to switch to any character and it immediately becomes the new leader. Anyhow, I'm still getting my feet wet with this program and was curious what people are finding most helpful to break follow, turn off the strobing follow, and then pick back up where you left off after you no longer need the alts to sit still, for example, for a boss fight.

With keyclone I would just back my guys up to break follow and then hit the follow macro to resume but with the strobing follow it's not as simple. If I understand the program correctly, I'm thinking I could do a keymap to back up to break follow that would also turn off the strobing follow with a second press that would do the opposite?

I don't use follow strobing in Jamba.

My slaves have strafing bound to "Q" - two have strafe left, two have strafe right.

Here's a brief, simplified fight:

Buff up, eat, whatever.

Get into position with tank, hit "q", slaves drop follow.

Tank tosses shield at boss, runs into fight.

Blood and guts get thrown around.

If the boss gets aggroed, or wanders, or whatever, and I have to reposition the slaves, I hit follow, and then "q" when they're where I want.

Resume fight.

It's awkward at first, but now I'm getting good at it, and I don't even think about it much.

For example, in the Violet Hold, I've been working on the different bosses, and managing the fight up to them, if you don't know you have to fight several waves of mobs before the boss zones in. You run around, a lot. I've been practicing to gauge where to drop the slaves off, and run in and grab the mobs - just hit "q", and they stay where they are. It works really well, it's simple, and I just put /assist into my /click macros. If the next portal is across the room, no problem, I just hit follow, run over, drop the slaves, and nuke.

IS does not control Follow strobing, that come from Jamba. You can turn it off always in the wizard or edit the character set. Or use a macro like "turn follow strobing off all" have to look at Jamba docs to be sure. in IS you can make a Keymap and make steps to stop follow, stop moving assist whichever you need each toon to do. also can change the default keymap for follow (alt-shift-f) to a plain key (f) or both, make (f) use the stepped macro and alt-f for follow on/off

Aradar, I had the same trouble as you and I just found the solution this week. When you run the setup wizard don't check the Jamba follow boxes at the end of the setup. You can still turn it off and and on in the game with Shift+Alt+F. You can disable the auto strobing on switch by going to the character slot and changing the Do this Mapped Key selection to Jamba Master only. This way you can toggle the strobing on and off.

I don't mind the strobing, but I was curious if I could break follow and turn off strobing with one keystroke, fight a boss or whatever, and then hit that same keystroke to reinitiate following and turn strobing back on. An on/off switch if you will that does two things at once.

Now that I think about it, this shouldn't be a problem as there is a toggle that turns both the repeater and keymaps on and off while at the same time a seperate toggle for each.

Guess I just need to get in the software and play with it. I was pretty used to keyclone and happy with it so I'm not even sure why I'm switching, lol. Guess I figured while starting back up now would be the best time to try it out.

I think that what I need and not being able to is similar to you.

I want to use follow strobing but I want to stop it and the press for example LEFT ARROW and each toon does
TOON1 - Nothing
TOON2 - Strafe Left
TOON3 - Strafe Right
TOON4 - Move Back

The goal is to have some initial spread formation in Arena and avoid AOE effects. At any time I reactivate strobing and stop/spread/start as needed during the fight.
An I want to do this without toggling bradcast oc.

I personally have a few Keymaps set for Slave Movement.
Four of them actually.

The hotkeys are up arrow, down arrow, left arrow and right arrow.
Each sends to all windows except the current.
And sends a keybind action.
Which is the same as the hotkey.

So on any toon, I can move the others via the arrow keys, without moving the hot toon.

Basically, turn off Follow Strobe.
And press Down Arrow.
