Thread: Innerspace

    Default Innerspace

Last night I got Innerspace. I bought it for the ability to put wow on different gpu cards. I software box and for a while one of the gpu cards was not doing anything. Thats all changed now due to innerspace. What I have now is my main window on a 1920x1200 resolution monitor with max graphics and the other 4 on another monitor with 4 regions at 1680x1050 resolution with minimum graphics. Previously in Dalaran I would get 13-20 fps on the main. With Innerspace I now get 40 fps on the main in Dalaran. One dedicated graphics card on the main makes all the difference.

So if you are software boxing with multiple gpus, IMO, Innerspace is a good way to go.

Wait, how do you put it on different GPUs?

I am going to assume you have innerspace. When you create a setup for a client you can choose a display for them. The options are primary, secondary, tertiary and a 4th one (I don't remember what it is called). Set your main as primary and the others as secondary.

Here is the quote I got from Lax ->

The GPU is selected per Game Profile in the IS configuration (right click on IS, select Cofniguration, and it's in the Game Configuration tab). By default it is Application Defined (application being the game, i.e. WoW)

So, what you would do is create additional Game Profiles depending on the number of GPUs (one easy way of doing so is with Add Game, then just modify the new profile through the configuration window).

Assuming you're using ISBoxer, you would then update your Characters in the ISBoxer interface to use the appropriate Game Profile

    I hope this helps.

I have read up on InnerSpace and it sounds like a massive leap ahead from other solutions. However, does it not veer dangerously towards automation?

For example, switching windows. By switching from one window to another window, you are not performing any action within the game environment but your characters will switch their follow to the selected window's character. This seems to sit on the wrong end of the grey area to me. Maybe not. Thoughts?

Even with keyclone and FTL can do the same thing. I switch screens with F8 and that also put the current screen as leader. It is still 1 button press = 1 action in the game. F8 changes the follow target in the game. In IS it changes the screen position.

By the way, I still use keyclone for all my keymaps. I don't think I will completely switch over to ISboxer as I have so much invested in keyclone.

Right but your F8 key is performing the /follow command, in the game environment. The fact that it also commands the operating systems to switch windows is irrelevant.

Using the mouse to change focus from one window to another involves no in-game action, as the mouse click is only interacting with the desktop and some windows, not the game inside the window.

It's probably too minor to make a difference.

You are still performing an action (i.e. clicking the screen to change screens).

Its not like ..... IS detecting that toonA has died and automatically switching you to toonB.
