    Default WIndows 7 upgrade

I was on newegg and the Win-7 ultimate OEM pack is less than Win-7 ultimate upgrade.

Can I upgrade with the OEM pack ( from Vista ultimate)?

Don't you have to also buy hardware (like a hard drive) to get the OEM? It used to work that way. With Vista I had struggles getting File and Print Sharing to work both ways on anything other than Ultimate. It was spotty at best on Home Premium.

The highlights are the addition of the Multi Language features and BitLocker - I was going to get Pro OEM over Ultimate.. but just went ahead and got a technet plus subscription...

... then installed Ultimate because could...
Resto Shaman + 4 DK's, work in progress...

Single best thing about Win7 so far from my view: video driver crashes don't crash the OS.

I justed installed 7 Ultimate on my netbook to test it out, and wow, it was by far the best experience I have ever had installing an operating system. they have refined the process from every step, and made some very good changes. My netbook is the Dell Mini 9, and without me having to do anything, it found drivers for every piece of hardware i had, including the wifi card, sound, and the webcam. It just plain worked. It feels snappier than the XP that I had previous, which I attribute to 7's better optimization for SSDs. This netbook only has 2gb of ram, but it seems plenty for what I need it for.

I'm gonna back up my main drive this weekend (image it) and try the "upgrade" from vista ultimate x64 to 7 ultimate x64 and see how that goes. I'm very anxious to the improvements to video card rendering, with 2 cards installed.

Depending on your drive, you might be seeing the boost due to native TRIM support in Win7.
