Thread: Druid DPS help

    Default Druid DPS help

    Hello Everyone,

Quick question. The team seems to be progressing nicely, although slowly, due to collection quests. UGH. I only have one more in my quest log, then NO MORE.

Here is my question: All my toons seem to be doing rather well on their DPS, except my Druid. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

My attack rotation is pretty simple - by product of only being lvl 14

    Toon Button 1 Button 2 Button 3

Paladin judgement auto auto DPS 11.4
Hunter pet attack serp sting arcane shot DPS 15.3
Shaman totem light bolt totem DPS 9.8
Mage ------ frostbolt fireball DPS 11.9
DRUID rejuv - pally wrath moonfire DPS 2.9 ?????

Also, the druid has massive mana issues. My other toons only rarely need to drink, but the druid is OOM about every 3rd encounter.

    Thanks again for any advice/help

at 14, and a five box team, you shouldn't need healing. Just help to loot all the dead mobs.
RAF Tour Guide files are obsolete, I went to Zygor

    We have:

Paladin judgement auto auto DPS 11.4
Hunter pet attack serp sting arcane shot DPS 15.3
Shaman totem light bolt totem DPS 9.8
Mage ------ frostbolt fireball DPS 11.9
DRUID rejuv - pally wrath moonfire DPS 2.9 ?????

Just a guess here, but the Druid is casting a heal, while everyone else is doing DPS off the bat.
The second cast is Wrath which is decent.
The third cast is a dot, which has some front end damage, but a significant portion is over time and doesn't count against a dead mob.

If you were to alter the macro's so the Shaman cast a heal on the pally, did a Lightning bolt and then a Flame shock, their dps would probably drop too.

At lower levels, I'd probably just go something like this:

    Paladin
    #show Judgement (of Whatever)
    /castsequence reset=target Judgement (of Whatever),Null

    Hunter
(Drag Arcane Shot from spell book)

    Shaman
    (Drag LB from spell book)

    Mage
(Drag Frostbolt or Fireball from spell book)

    Druid
    (Drag Wrath from spell book)

    Drive with the pally.
You can mouse click if you need more threat then the Judgment.
    Spam the dps key.
Most stuff will die before it reaches you.

1x Arcane Shot + Auto Shots + Pet Attacks, 2x Frost Bolt, 2x Lightning Bolt, 2x Wrath...
Lots of damage for a single mob.

What about higher lvl druid dps? I've got 5x druids that are 61 now ... How much will i lose if I don't take advantage of manually managing eclipse procs?

    Thanks

I'll implement both suggestions, and drop the heal from the druid's rotation. And yes, I have noticed that mobs up 4 lvls higher (mob=17, team was 13) drop before the rejuv even expires. I can always use the little "gift of naaru" trick you showed in your thread, Fur :-)

I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

One more question (plenty more coming, i'm sure) At what level would I have a decent chance of making it thru Deadmines without wiping every ten minutes ? I was gussing around lvl 17 or 18.

You'll lose some but not enough to make a serious dent in instances at your level. On my 5x druid team, I use a simple cast random wrath/starfire and at 61 they more than held their own ~around 500 dps.

At the higher levels it would be more of an issue. If you are like me I need time for muscle memory to kick in so I like to get as much of the final routine down as early as possible.

Fur's balance macro suggests two macro's.
    One for IS/MF/Wrath.
    One for IS/MF/Starfire.

With only one druid, its pretty easy to switch when you notice a proc.

My druids are messing around with an Eclipse InnerSpace solution.
    Basically three keymaps per druid.
Keymaps 1 & 2, both use 1 as the hotkey, and either call the IS/MF/W or the IS/MF/SF macro's.
Keymap 3 is a two-step toggle, enabling one and disabling the other.
Then an addon like MSBT announces which druid has the proc, but the announcement is not Eclipse but rather G7 (or G8-G11).
When it announces G9, I press G9, which is the hotkey for the 3rd druids toggle macro.

If you did not want to bother with switching macro's, in another thread Fur suggested going with:
/castsequence Wrath, Wrath, Wrath, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire, Starfire
As the 3rd line in the macro.
That way, you at least get some of the benefits of Eclipse on each proc.

If and when you do manage the procs this is a great video showing how you can use MSBT to show party procs.
