Ok, I cleared the instance on normal. I'm gonna farm it a few times to get the hang of it. My question about swapping my weapon back still stands. Typing /equip Titansteel guardian real fast was a sorry way to do it.

P.S. I use Fur's dual spec macro. I guess I could bind a modified version for each toon to just switch gear :/

    Seriously. Best.mod.ever.
Outfitter does this as well. For those who already use it, this is a not so well publicized feature of the newer release.

Of course if this is all you want and already use the in-game equipment manager this is a great mod. I will have to give it a try.

Why do you need to reequip them fast? After the jousting phase after you dismount all champions you have time to dismount and reequip before you have to fight the 3. Is there a reason to have to reequip them during the jousting phase?

I just dragged my weapons to an unused key. 1 for the lances and 1 for my actual weapons.

It is all about convenience. Works great for the dailies as well. I can not speak for everyone else but we manage so much that any little bit I can automate that makes sense I do.

Set up two /click macros. First one is /assist with vehicle buttons 1/2, and the second that hits 4 (shield). The exact macros are in a thread around here somewhere, if you search. I'd post them but the server's down so I can't login.

I start in the middle, right next to where the champions stop but with enough room to throw before they're in melee range. Reasons I prefer the middle are; 1 - they don't have room to charge when you pull them; 2 - you have more time to trample after you've dismounted one.

It's really as simple spamming those two macros and hitting /follow or manually turning occasionally to face your characters in the right direction. The trick to it is to have a decent unitframes set up so you can clearly see your party pet health bars. When one of your horses gets to 50%, run it across to a fresh horse, switch and run back. The horses respawn, so it's better to switch early than leave it too long and risk losing a character.

Occasionally they will get one too many charges off when your shield hasn't refreshed quickly enough, but if you refresh mounts properly it's really not a difficult fight. If you're dying that quickly my guess would be that you haven't set up macros and you're trying to manually manage DPSing+Shielding, which is leading to you neglecting to refresh your shield every time it's up. If you take a couple of charges without 3 shields up, it will hurt.

    *edit

I have 3 large LCD's and a pretty high-end PC that hot-switches clients to my main monitor very quickly, so switching to get a new horse is simpler for me. If you have trouble with lag while client switching, or tabbing, then the fight could be a bit more painful.

    /equip argent lance

then after you win in my case

/equip titansteel guardian (this takes care of 3 out of 5 toons. Restro guy I open up his bags and right click his weapon. Tank I just do it naturally b/c it is my main.)

This is way way way off topic but I often sit around a type out commands to my other toons. Especially during dailies. A quick type of /use flesh giant spine or other one time things. Heck up until a couple weeks ago I was still doing manual "/cast magma totem" in certain situations.

Back on topic. I wish there was a achievement to defeat the first boss with lances equiped. I have done it with only the tank having a proper weapon. I think once in regular I was able to do this. I kept thinking man my healing/damage sucks. Only until I had finished did i notice my toons were not properly equiped.

One of the things that I keep having to work around is the ISBoxer/Jamba Strobing thing. I love the strobing, in most cases. Currently, you can't temporarily disable it in game. Sure you can toggle it off but when you switch screens it toggles it back on. It's pretty annoying. I park my guys by the big door so I wind up with aggro pretty soon after they de-horse and I don't have time to manually switch. That and it's one less headache. Joust Do It! worked great, thanks again.

I'm pretty sure jamba strobing only turns on when you switch characters if you have the option checked to do so.
