Default Heroic Utgarde keep downed - properly this time.

I posted a few weeks back about downing heroic UK with my son healing.
My son has no interest in PVE stuff at the moment so I decided to go and give it a try where I was controlling
    all 5 characters.

It was far more of a challenge this time round. I didn't spend a lot of time on healing macros,
and a few minutes in my tank spam healing really wasn't cutting it.

I wiped on trash a couple of times, with bad pulls or positioning, and one wipe was down to
stuffing up my healing macro so the tank only got riptide every six seconds (at best).

However, after a few tweaks to my healing macro things went smoothly.

1 shotted the first boss, 1 shotted the second bosses. No further wipes on trash.
I did wipe on Ingvar, and as it was late I only had time for one more attempt.
However my fire elementals were available and I managed to hit the right buttons on my shaman
    and Ingvar died.

My shaman dps was shockingly bad - but that was down to me not triggering the right abilities at the right time.
(lots of times I was spamming what was my lava burst key - doh!!!)

I am going to respec my shaman to a PVE build now, and I'm going to convert to a /click macro for dps.
Also going to macro up my druid tanks abilities.

I reckon with the changes I've just mentioned that I'll be able to do a few more heroics.

    Congratulations !

From my experience, Ingvar is NOT easy when just starting heroics.
Since you took him down, you should be able to do at least several bosses in Gundrak, Drak'tharon and Nexus.

    Thanks.

I'll be heading to Nexus next. The mace of unrequited love will be nice and each one I get will save me some gold on the titansteel item (I need 3 of them at the moment). Forgot to grab ebon hold tabards before going in - will be nice to get the trousers from rep.

It's kind of revitalised the game for me. I was multiboxing to avoid being dependant on others - yet was waiting for my son to want to do an instance for my team to get stuff done. I'll run the heroics myself, and if my son or daughter want to come along on their characters they can.

Grats! UK is the only heroic I can fully clear. Other than that I'm picking off random bosses from everywhere.

I'll probably be in the same boat. I'll try nexus, but I believe others like yourself, run various bosses in heroics to farm badges to get the gear to run them fully - I'm quite willing to do that too.

The first 2 bosses in UP are really easy. Do them on normal (you'll still get rep) to get the hang of it. First boss, when she sacrifices run your team up and drop magmas and do an aoe with your druid (nothing to tank during this phase) then run back to the floor and start dps'ing the boss again. Rinse and repeat.

Second boss keep up cleansing and you must be able to cast heals on each party member because the final boss spears randomly. A riptide usually covers it.

I also think a 2 boss run in DTK is good. I do Trollgore and the last boss Prophet Tharon'ja skipping Novos and King Dred.

Sure it's a lot of trash for 2 bosses and the fears from the trash up near the last boss are a pain but it's 2 Emblems, a Frozen Orb and an Epic.

I agree that the first two bosses in UP are a good grind. I have to try a few more instances and see how they go. I hate Eck and the Colossus in Grundrak.

I agree with DTk completely. It is good rep and I skipped novos until I got the hang of it from doing pugs. King dred can be hit or miss with unlucky stacks of bleed. Have a shaman drop the tremor right where you tank dred and it makes it a little easier, just remember to reface everyone after a fear. Thoranja is a pushover. Keep bone shield up (3), use the life tap (4) and stay close to have everyone melee him in phase 2. Taunt on each phase change and collect your purples.

    Congratz!

Yeah doing your first few heroics is a pain but once you get it down its cake! Or pie if you dont like cake
Nexus is a pain, just so out of the way, like you saw in one of the other threads its a good way to do heroics and run and collect them badges. Its got a good route going.

I do UK, UP(Skip gauntlet sometimes), DTK (Skip Novos his a pain, I am sure I can do him but dont need anything of him other than the badge), Gundrak, Time CoT.

I skip Nexus (but after reading that post earlier I might do the 2 badges), Oculus (I have a deep seated hatred for the place), Kingdom (only go there if I need to skin those guys, but its easy I can do most of the bosses), AN (again only if I need to skin, but its easy its a 20min instance at most, last boss is a pain in the behind), as well as VH (not really a fan of the place, again I only go there if I need to skin stuff)
    Daggerspine Alliance: Phoebus(Tank), Soozanuna(Heals/Tailor), Angakak (Enchanter), Wakantanaka(Herb/Alch), Znakharka, Jonhyone(JC), Marious(Other Tank/BS), Magnux(Enchanter), Coyolxhauqui(LW)
