Personally, I'd go with the epic flyers.
That with cold weather flying really makes everything a lot easier.
Under an hour of dailies gets me 1150g a day (running 15 dailies in my route).
From dailies I bought my tank basically all of the Ulduar 25/Naxx25 BoE's (pre ToC).
280% vs 150% is basically double the speed, so dailies are maybe 15-20 mins faster.
When I was starting dailies it was 280% vs 60% flying... easier choice.

If you really want to do heroics now...
The tank is the key position; a geared tank makes a lot of stuff a ton easier then a geared anything else.
150% flying speed is quite decent.

    Replying to nobody inparticular...

It doesn't matter how you look at this,. epic flyers simple don't get you into heroics more quickly than a geared tank does.

And that's what his goal is - to "start doing heroics as soon as possible"

I decided to just gear the tank and wait with the rets. The cost of getting all the epics for the tank was just 2,5k or so. Not a big issue.

I still have lots of cash on my chars and all quests in Sholozar Basin, Storm Peaks, Icecrown (I've done the rest) so hopefully I will be able to get the best of two worlds. But heroics is main priority.

Just a personal point of view :

    I don't do dailies, ever.
I like to use flightmaster routes for long distances because I can do something else in the mean time. Epic flyer simply would save me a few seconds between the closest flying point and the entrance of the instance I'm going to : Not worth it.

My advice : gear your tank, buy casters mace for your shamans, power level enchanting on one of the characters, and go practice your heroics ASAP.

If you plan to run dailies for gold, then the epic flyers are probably a good idea.

Yeah enchanting is very high on my todo-list.. how long can I expect it will take to get from 1-350ish? which I guess is Northrend worthy.

Funnily enough after reading various threads I'm planning on powerlevelling enchanting.
If you have a decent chunk of gold you can get to Northrend levels quite quickly (presuming mats are freely availabe on your servers auction house).

I powerlevelled another character and was able to do a couple of hundred levels in a couple of hours just buying mats off the auction house. I got a load of the other levels the next night.

You need to get to 375 to be able to disenchant everything, but at least the 350- 375 is easer to do thanks to Northrend recipes.

What was your approximate cost to reach 350ish?

Neither the gear or epic mounts, do the money maker tradeskills first. If you don't care about minmaxing for arenas, you can go JC+alch on everyone and rake in about 2k a day profit basically doing 1 daily quest, 5 gem transmutes, and 5 icy prisms. And thats considering the cost of buying all source mats always, unless you enjoy daily quests tradeskill CDs are by far the efficient way to make money that I have found, especially if you only play for small ammounts of time per day but can log in for atleast 20-30 minutes a day

    Just to point out again....

The question wasn't "how do I make money". The question was "how do I get into heroics as quickly as possible".

Actually the question was - should he use money to gear up or buy his epic mounts instead.
He stated a preference for doing heroics therefore the suggestion was to do heroics.

So if you are going to point out what the original question was I suggest you get it right.

Presumably he would still like to gather money for the epic mounts - in which case suggestions towards that are perfectly acceptable too.

I'd suggest leaving the moderators to do the moderation - they do a much better job of it.
