Default Yahoo! First team @ 80!

My pallygirl and four shegoats are 80! Started in mid-Dec 2009....half year later, omg!
What a long and arduous journey! Never been in an instance at all.
    Now, questions:

    1) What to do to get gears? PVE first, PVP second
    2) How to get them? Need to buy tanking stuffs for the pallygirl? Piss poor, but combined all five toons, should have 5K
    3) I read somewhere that PVP, you dont have to actually fight, just log in and exit to get the credit?
    4) Long way before I can farm heroics using Shokodan's guide
    5) I am just glad that I made 80...
    6) Still scratching my head on how to set up the spread formation (this is still after reading Ualaa's guide over and over again! Please help me with pix and clear instruction if anyone is up to it...
    7) THANK YOU ALL FOR SETTING UP THIS WEBSITE AND ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS...COULDNT HAVE DONE IT WITHOUT COMMUNITY!!!! THANK YOU THANK YOU!
    Yay!

Congrats girl. Once I hit 80, I had some good quest gear, but also ran a few instances with others since I run 4 to get drops from them. My main tank is a Blacksmith, so I also had the luxury of making my own gear for starters, then ran dailies for a while to rack up money to buy extras off the AH. If you've unlocked all the dailies in Icecrown and the Tournament grounds, you can rack up about 350-400g just on one toon alone from both quest turnins and trash. Level up or gather mats for a Leatherworker to make you some gear for your shaman. I just did that for my Hunters too. If you do run the BGs with them, make sure to get the lvl 78 pvp gear from BS and LW, the set will give you about 350 resilience to start with, then find enchants from Rep Quartermasters and Enchanters. AV is still a good one to rack up points in even if you do get wiped alot.

dailies first, unlock Icecrown dailies, then argent tournament dailies (NE Icecrown) do quests, earn badges and afford new weapons for everyone (takes 2-3 weeks doing then daily) - this a) earns you some nice money b) will help getting some gear for everyone via Ebon Blade rep. Or do instances and gear that way. Or do what I do and spend all your dailies money on gearing tank from AH/crafting THEN do instances and gear everyone else up.

Or do whatever you want. Getting to 80 is an achievement in itself for people with RL's so stick to what's fun.

    And GRATZ!

    First of all grats!

And after reading your post I remember my mixed feelings after dinging 80 for the first time ... happy, but also the what now feeling. For me the most important thing was to get my tank geared, followed by my healer. I'd say you have 2 options:

    - be stubborn like me and do every dungeon first with your team, this is the lengthy process.
    - queue up a few hours with your tank as dps (even if he does like 1.5k) in the lfd group. Drops + emblems will get you really fast to an acceptable level. Do the same with the healer. And eventually with a dps. This will give you a headstart.

3 tips that worked for me.

    - Do as much daily quests as you can. After a few days you can do them blindly and its fast and easy money.
    - Don't spend any gold when you don't need to. Gemming & enchanting a piece you will upgrade soon is a waste as a boxer (unless you are grouping with others for a raid). If you get a few k extra, boost up a tradeskill.
    - The argent tournament route to do quests became obsolete: it's tedious and boring imo. Many better weaps can be found in the hc dungeons.

make your tank (nearly) crit immun and just queue as a tank for sometime, instant dungeons + usually high geared healers = easy badges = easy gear

this results in a tank which takes quite some time to die in the "old" heroics. then i'd just queue with the complete team and you should get pretty well through the instances, maybe not in 15minutes but you should be able to complete them :-) doing them on normal during leveling helped me a lot to "learn"/remember what to do on each boss fight :-)

Grats - nothing like getting that first team to 80.

If you're going PvE and one of your team is a Blacksmither, then there's a tonne of crafted gear you can make to ease your way into Heroics, especially if you've purchased the relatively cheap i245 patterns going about.
...for when one toon just isn't enough...

    Horde Caelestrasz Multiboxer:
Team1: 5xPaladin....Level 80 - Heroic gearing completed. WTB [Frost Badge] pst pls.
    Team2: 1xPaladin/4xShaman....Level 80 - On Hiatus, Awaiting Cata.

You could always try doing all the dungeons in regular mode first, with the random finder you still get a couple badges at a time, decent blue gear, and you can learn the fights. Then step up to heroics. Up to you if youd rather gear up one toon at a time and have random pugs carry you (thats what I did) or go through by yourself and learn through wiping. And since u have blacksmithing, see if you can make yourself some of the BoE gear for tanking, the ilvl 200 epic helm and boots are pretty good. U can make your shamans some decent 1h maces too (3 of my shaman still have it!)

Your other option is to do a shit ton of dailies, get thousands of gold, and deck yourself out in the ICC BoE gear (on my server they are between 7-10k a pop)

TBH, I never did Icecrown dailies or tourney dailies, I think youre gonna hate the grind. I'd just jump right in, get a dedicated healer, buy a few items for her, and buy a few tank items (stam stam stam), Im not saying spend 20k, but around 3-4 for healer and tank. Then run random normals, get the 2 badges, and gear up like that. Soon youll find that you can do random heroic, and pick and choose instances if the one given to you is too hard. This is the fastest way and probably the most fun.

Ok, I just opened up the IC dailies, the one that Ualaa wrote about, his route that gives around 1K-ish. I don't know what is argent tournament. I read about it just now on wowwiki, but not at home, are those quests/dailies boxable?
I made the tempered titansteel treads and shield wall, working on the helm and other stuffs for the she-pally.

As for the jumping right in, I tried the normal random, with a shadowpriest as healer (a she friend), we didnt get far. got the first and second boss down, and it took too long. So decided to make golds first and make the titansteel stuffs.

    Thanks for the insights/sharing!
