Hey has anyone written a PvP strategy guide for doing 5v5? Right now my toughest comps are forms of cleave -- melee cleave or wizard cleave. There's a ton of guides for setting up boxing and doing pve but what about pvp?![]()

I offered to throw an overall guide together if it would be stickied this time. Haven't heard back from ellay yet.
<The Zerg> : Uther : Alliance : PVP 4 Boxing Rogues, Shamans, Warlocks
I'd love to see what you guys are doing because I must be doing something wrong.
All of my shamans have 4 piece relentless (bracers, belt, boots, ring) and furious everything else except for bracers. My main has the furious elemental weapon/shield and the rest have the spectral kris out of 5 man H-TOC along with a shield I've never been able to find a replacement for (blue).
965 resil on the main, 855 resil on the clones and we can't seem to get past 1550 rating.
Now, part of that at least I suspect is my battleground - when we queue we only seem to get 1300 rated teams that we beat up on or get 2k+ rated plus teams that cleave their way to victory.
It could also be my healer? I have three resto druids -- one is very consistant and good but seems to die easily -- the other is better but has been AWOL for 2-3 weeks (our first matches we went 6-0) -- the third is the best I've seen but also very rarely on - when we started beating those said 2k+ teams I started to see what was possible with a really good healer
I also suspect its my tactics -- right now my first instict is to blow up the first person that charges in -- sometimes this works but usually its a bait, or I'll kill someone but they're not a high threat to me.
Warriors are the #1 threat, but they simply charge in and blade storm - I'm wondering if I should flame shock them ASAP and then spend a few seconds purging them and then blowing them up, because if the warrior is dead the cleave team becomes much easier.

Ellay had/has a video in the movie section, which was a video tutorial. It is for arena, but is pre Wrath, so some things have changed and some are the same.
For the original three arena's it mentioned where to stand and why.
He prioritized DPS as the first targets to take out.
Mainly because as a boxer they were the most threat to him.
In most of his video's, it is the DPS switch which gets the opponents, especially at higher ratings.
Put some DPS on one, then switch to another quickly and either burst them down or DPS a little and burst the first target down.
Using target=focus type macro's you don't even have to target the burst target, just need Line of Sight.
The aelli video is pretty much obsolete now. That was before aoe for every class, aoe cc everything, and every class can bubble.
And quick target switching doesn't fool anyone about1400 rating anymore, people just got too twitchy. Need focus targets
I'd love to see some of the stuff promised in this thread as well!
I never found a stable (reliable) arena team when playing solo, and just don't yet have the gear or skills to do my own arena team but it's something I plan on doing.
Which means I know bugger all about arena tactics.
So, things specific to arenas would be most appreciated (including positoning and tips on dealing with specific team compositions).
I see we've got a thread on general PvP gear choices (gems, enchants, penetration, etc) but consolidating that into the same article would be absolutely awesome.
Thanks in advance for your efforts guys and good luck with that surgery, Ogloo.
