Default WoW Crashes / Video Card Probs

Anyone else start to have problems with WoW crashing at the EULA when logging in yesterday afternoon? Something about the Bnet merge requrement (or simply bad luck) has caused my video card (GeForce 8800 GT) to go nuts. When I try to login, the screen flashes, I get the blue screen of death, dumps the physical memory (error Stop 0x00000116) and then reboots.

    Everything else worked, except WoW.

However, after messing with driver updates / rollbacks, even re-install WoW and Windows (Vista 64 bit), I can not get Windows to recognize the video card anymore.

Any ideas? Is it that my video card simply died on me?

    Any help would be appreciated.

Looks a lot like there is something wrong with the hardware.

Do you have an other computer you can plug the 8800 into? To verify?

I don't have another comp that I can check it on. Based on what I read - the fact that the POST and WIndows load screens have distorted images, it is almost guaranteed to be the card. It must have died on me. I ordered a EVGA GeForce 9800 GT 1GB as a replacement today which I should have soon - I will be real unhappy if that doesn't work and it is a bigger prob.

While you wait for the new card, pull the 8800 and remove the heat sink. Clean everything and reapply thermal compound. You never know, it might just work and you will have a spare card for the future.
