Melee Box DPS in outland

So i've just hit outland on my team (1 prot paly, 3 ret and a priest) and am quite disapointed with the DPS from my paly's. Pre-Outland i could take down mobs fairly quickly but now mobs seem to take quite long to take down, i'm only 59 but i tried abit of ramps and nearly wiped on the first few mobs. The quests in HFP seem dont seem very multiboxer friendly and this was all getting to me last night when i was seriously considering bringing in 3 shammies instead of my paly's. Is this something you guys have experienced or have i got a problem.

Are you running Recount? Just curious what the numbers show.

I'm leveling my B-Team right now, and one of them is a 61 Ret Pallie. I just wrote a /click macro for him last night. He's in almost all greens and has a crappy weapon, but is still pulling about 450 DPS. So if you're not at least getting that, you definitely want to re-write your macros.

Once my team started with TBC they pretty much kicked serious butt. Just look for that /click macro that Stealthy? wrote in the 5-box paladin thread.

Bottom line? Your gear is lower than it should be. There is a jump in item quality from pre-BC zones and Hellfire, so no matter how much of a pain they are, you need to run those first series of quests in the Penninsula to get your gear up to date. First things first, upgrade the weapons on your DPS pallies. Those will be the single largest contributor to upgrading your DPS.

The beginning quests aren't too bad. The very first quest you do (right outside the Thrallmar gates) yields a very good 2-h axe and is a simple kill quest. There are a couple collection quests that have good rewards, but are painful to get through. The goblins at the crash site will give you some nice plate legs. Once you hit 62, the cenarion outpost has a quest for hellboar blood that sucks to get through (low drop rate - why don't these piggies have blood!?!), but will ultimately get you a fast 2-h mace or a sweet 2-h sword. The starter quests may be a little painful to get through, but they will gear you enough to be able to take on Ramps.

Ramps is really hard – I still wiped on the last boss at 62 when my team first landed in Outlands.

First thing you should do when you hit Outlands is upgrade your gear - the quest rewards from the Hellfire & Zanga quests will be a big increase to not only your DPS, but your survivability as well. Check out the gear guide I posted here:

If you're having trouble at 59, you might want to wait until you hit 60 - at 60 you'll get several aura / blessing / DPS spell upgrades that will help a lot with instances.

With 3 Ret pallies HF shouldn't be too hard if you use Repentance on pulls (all humanoid mobs). For the bosses:
Gargolmar - repentance the two adds, dps boss down.
Omor - tank n spank, just make sure you have shadow resist aura up. Divine Shield will remove the Treachorous Aura if its causing you problems.
Vazruden/Nazan - make sure you have fire resist up, then its just a case of DPS, move out of fire, DPS, move out of fire. Divine shield and heal if health is getting too low, or use Lay on Hands.
