My guess is that Arthas will escape (or leave via some means) at the end of the 5-man encounter and show up again in a patch 3.4 raid. Taking him down with just 5 people (+1 npc) doesn't feel right. The death of ARthas needs to be more epic to fit with the story.

From the raids panel:
After that, the panel went on to talk about raid dungeons, the first being Icecrown Citadel, which will be released in patch 3.3. This is the home of the Lich King and his Scourge army. The waypoints used in Ulduar received a lot of positive feedback, so we plan to use those again in this dungeon. We are currently planning to implement 12 epic encounters, including battles against the ultimate Frost Wyrm, Sindragosa, and the Lich King himself! This dungeon will also include a new 5-player dungeon with 8 bosses spread across three separate wings.
I imagine he will poof. It's cool that I will get to see him at least. Playing with friends in a scrub guild doesn't mean I have to miss out on everything this time!
Tempest kee......icecrown citadel was merely a setback!!!!
I don’t see him poofing.
Blizz acknowledged they made a huge mistake in BC designing so much of the encounters to challenge the 1% who actually got to see them. They even had to seriously nerf the crap out of them to allow perhaps another 15% of the player base access prior to WoTLK.
I see Arthas getting his arse handed to him by every casual tom, dick and larry; leaving some new encounters for the 10/25 dungeons.

You know I really doubt Arthas will be someone that everyone kills. They may see him at the end of icecrown, but Im guessing hes going to be a badass like Algalon. With that said I really dont care for the elitist attitude that crops up so much in WoW. There are so many encounters that most of WoW will never see, even in a good PuG (algalon, mimiron, hell most of Ulduar.) Yes, ToC is PuGable, but not heroic. You might find some people that can do it in a PuG but your average group will get destroyed by Heroic ToC. I imagine Icecrown will work the same. Normal modes will be PuGable(sans Arthas), but if you want the best gear you better do heroic.
Awesome sounds like fun.
Currently running 10 miners in Eve Online.
Really awesome, a raid type progression 5 man? That's something new, no?
Now, if they can only avoid putting some weird arse vehicle scenario in there that isn't "boxable".
