The role of Purge

I've always Purged my kill first target till recently. When an opponent team is aggressive (seen teams with no healers killing me in a few seconds) I really don't think it compensates to blow a GCD before blowing the target.

I purge people in those moments of teasing and that's all.

I'm curious, what do you do with Purge? Would it be usefull to do some purge spamming like the (awesome) wind shear spam?

Same thing, my priest and I use Mass dispell and purges as a way to tease and coax the enemy into making a mistake and rushing early. Meanwhile it serves a purpose in dropping HP pools, so its two birds with one stone.

For the first couple kills I don't purge, there's just not time anymore. Once I'm chasing that 3,4,5th target around, I'll purge a PS, Freedom etc before killing.

I'm still finding as time goes on the best thing you can do is pump out as MUCH dmg as you can during the first few seconds, no matter whether it kills something or not, it puts them on the defensive and prevents a lot of CC on your healer by keeping the enemy busy. Some of the worst losses I've taken (and I'm still guilty of this once in a while) is sitting and healing/waiting for the perfect EM quick kill, meanwhile 15 seconds have gone by where I could have been pumping out 100k in lightning dmg, and my priest has burned half his mana.
