Yes, null essentially says that line or sequence is done until the reset condition applies.
I use Null with Faerie Fire and Hunter's Mark.
Have also used it with the priest dps, so they help the dps some, but aren't casting even though the button is being spammed, for when they will likely need to heal instead of dps.
