What is the purpose of this in a macro? Do you really need a "tool tip" (if it just displays the basic tooltip....). Does it do something else...?

it gives you a visual notice of what spell you are casting, it is especially handy when one macro can cast multiple different spells because the tooltip will change depending on what is being cast giving you visual notification of what you are doing. It is certainly not required so if you are short on char space you can drop it. I just use it for cosmetic reasons
