5boxing on my laptop.

does not go so well. here is my system specs


intel core 2 t7200 2.0ghz
2gigs of ram
geforce go 7900gs
windows vista.

5 windows active at 800x600 and 1 at semi full rez. sound turned off on all windows.

with 5 active windows I get about 10fps with 100%cpu and 80% memory used.

So I think I may go back to using 2 computers to 5 box until I upgrade to a quad core lap(When they come out) or upgrade my desktop.

just figured I would leave some info on basic system that will run 5box but at low fps. SO if people ask if they can 5box on a system that is lower than these specs it may not work. You will need a system a bit better than mine here.

if any of you guys have any tips to up m FPS other than going to windows xp let me know.

oh ye little trick to up for FPS have windows media player on in the background

dont play music just have it on

i have no idea why or how it does it but i read it somewhere on the interweb and in trying it out it does actually work, im sure someone out there with more experience with computers will explain why this happens.

its not really noticeable as mine all run at 30-50fps depends where i am, my windows are minumised to tiny little dots so i can fit in 5 screens on a 17 inch widescreen laptop monitor. But i like being able to see them all at the same time >.< and sadly aditonal monitors is not an option for me.

Sure, if you happen to know how to attach a real 8x or 16x PCI-e video card (not a mobile chipset) to a laptop.

its a pci-e 16x card the go means its for a laptop. i can swap out the gfx card if I want.

humm that's the same spec as mine except I got a little better vidoe card. I am brand new to multi-boxing like this so when I get a setup configured I'll let you know if it works for me. I have however been dual boxing the ol' alt+tab method for a long time. with maxed video settings I can run 2 instances of wow on my laptop no problem.

eh i got a job where i travel 85% of the time. Instead of it impacting my hobbies, I splurged and ordered an alienware. Probably could have gotten the same system other places, mtech laptops for example, for less but I always wanted an alienware hehe.

It sucks carrying two laptops thru security, but its nice once I get back to the hotel.
