I actually just switched mine to cows.. I love it! I've honestly wasn't really enjoying playing my shamy team but after going huge taurens and switching to enhancement I'm loving it! Something about seeing the hulky guys swinging axes/maces.. awesomeness. And as far as melee I've gotta say that so far they're holding their own against my paly team.
My shamans are female taurens because their dance stays syncronized.

Tauren females are hot, plus warstomp on round robin is fun.
Prot Paladin, tank/resto Druid, 2xResto Shaman, 3xElemental Shaman, Balance Druid, Shadow Priest, Arcane Mage PVE
10x shamans PVP
I dunno, free spell power trinket and reduced stun duration make orcs the best choice for me. Stomp seems so useless, and thats for someone who used to play Taurens exclusively.
If you can stand the aesthetics, then there's no better choice than Tauren and the stomp round robin. If you can't stand the cows, go orc for the free dps trinket. If only there were undead shaman... You could always switch them to goblin when Cata comes out.
