ps I checked the the GM of my new guild and they don't mind at all dual boxing - so the more the merrier / feel free to join

do not join that guild; there are a buddy club going nowhere and intolerant of boxers or justified criticism (like if you say maybe it's not so good for an officer to roll on a BOP shield he won't use (as a glad) over a templar (tank)) - sorry if I mislead anyone to join - do yourself a favor and get another guild

Is anyone able to start Aion for the preselect? My launcher is no longer even showing it under "installed."

try restarting the launcher (as administrator) - they had some problems


I had a scary duplicate aion id config file error on 1 of my 2 machines but I managed to make it go away by renaming my aion folder back and forth between launches - it's possible though that it's just a coincidence and they fixed the launcher in between

I can't seem to login for preselection either.

Preselection was acting odd but now my accounts are either logging in or updating with a 338.5MB patch that I have not seen before.

Patcher Update: There is another patch following the first patch, this one is 289.2Mb

NOTE: MBoxxing on one PC (software boxers enjoy) is now available for Aion as they have killed game guard for now and added a selection box to the options that allows multiple clients to start on one computer. If you PC can handle it.

Rolling a Ranger/Chanter combo on Elyos Zikel, having a hard time deciding between Assasin/Ranger

NCSoft was about 40 minutes late in bringing the servers up; after a lot of retries, I was one of the first one to get in but by the time I created (not the final one; I'll delete and recreate at length later) my first character Moorea someone had taken my favorite to be assassin Nikita and 2 other names I had planned to get (Eva and Eve) :-(

Anyway, I got 4 decent names (2 accounts x 2 names)

Moorea, Lea, Fae and Aria (Elyos Vaizel)

Hmm, I'm tempted to dual-box Aion, but I usually like to try the game out single-box first before deciding.

Anyone have any definite recommendations on whether or not to dual-box?

Does it make things go way faster? Less hassle spent LFG? Are quests sharable? Or does it mostly mean doing twice the work?

Currently I'm leaning towards templar + cleric if I do dual-box. Cleric seems a no-brainer for second class, but templar might be gimped for DPS.

Perhaps Assassin + cleric is better? Is Assassin avoidance better than armor? I have no idea...

Quest are shareable but there isn't "interact with target" nor there is jamba

Kill quests are obviously good to box but there is a lot of collection quests too

Kill XP is 1/2 for a group of 2 so that also is somewhat of a negative


My guesstimate is it takes probably 1.5x the time to get 2 toons

I had the same concerns about combo - I believe the fastest combo to level is probably Gladiator (aoe dps) and Chanter (dps boost) or Assassin and Chanter - though 2 SM probably would own too and be easier to box - I was under the assumption I'd have to manually box and so only some heals and buffs here and there is what I could get of the second one - but with software working now, I guess "real" boxing is possible
