Default Mixed Team - Any PvP to do?

I used to PvP a ton with my warlock pre-WotLK. Enjoyed BG's quite a bit. Never got too into arena.

I recently took my shaman solo to help a guild group round out for arena games. My shaman is mostly in lvl200 purples with a handful of 219/226 gear. Its ALL PvE however.

Well, we went 2 and 2 in our arenas (played some bad teams) but it was fun. Went on from there to do a couple AB's, and a WG. Went 3-1 in the BG's. The shaman was fun to play and really blew some folks up. Amazing what a FS/LvB does.

So, got me to thinking. I had always assumed that my five box team would never step foot into any PvP setting. However, is there some value that my team might add in an AV? I'd love some input.

Also, would love to hear the general experience of any mixed team boxers in PvP.

Finally, any tips on a baseline PvP gearing strategy would be of value, even for just one toon.

With my mixed team I always had a ton of trouble in world pvp so I never really tried them in bgs much. It always seemed to end badly whenever I encountered 3+ enemies at once. All the different spell cast times really hurt my ability to coordinate movement. I don't doubt a good 5 pve team alone could take out the av boss with a tower or two up.

Yeah, I just can't picture dealing with fear, positioning, coordinating burst DPS, etc.

I don't know, maybe I'll queue up for an AV and head to the choke point and see what happens.

I've done it before a little bit at lower levels and it was just too much work (it's already quite a challenge coordinating 4 of the same class with the same spells). The only way I can see it working feasibly is if:

    - Your main DPS is multiple of the same class
    - Your healer(s) have good aoe, instant heals, and spammable stuff (priest and druid)
    - Anything else has some kind of spammable spell or good aoe, but other than that hard to make much use out of them (I can imagine running with an FoK rogue just for kicks, or a frost mage to snare stuff.

I'm hoping aoe/instant healers will help, I'm leveling my priest and druid in AV at the moment to be an aasy, macro-based aoe heal squad to follow my shaman in world pvp, wintergrasp, etc. I've run with the pally before but a stationary single target healer just doesn't do the trick... all I really use is bop and divine sacrifice.

I take my prot pally and 2 shaman and 3 box in AV. I usually always tank and heal myself when we kill van. Sometimes I stop and help make short work of Bal. I also get to the aid station and aggro ALL of the NPCs and drag them off to the side and kill them. This way my team only worries about archers and alliance.

I consider my team the turtle breaker. I drop my shamans back about 30 yards from the nearest enemy and "lure" them towords the shamans. When they are in range the shammys nuke em. I move the shamans up bout 10 yards or so . Rinse and repeat. The chain lightenings are devistating at times.

If I notice that my team is bunched and having issues Ill hit chain heal from both shammies at the same time and top most folks off.

I don't do too far as I get overwhelmed my 5-10 alliance and only my prot pally survives.

I have a mage and priest I will sometimes 5 box but I find I have too much lag and the slaves break follow too often. Also It suck to res part of your team at one GY and the rest at another. Plus mage and priest are too squishy and I cant give them too much attention.

Its funny as hell to 5 box. My shamans are of course taurens and the priest is undead and mage is BE so the BE and undead are "hidden" inside the taurens. Most never know they are even there will they see a shaman cast what looks like prayer of mending or frostbolt

Playing defense is another story. hard as hell. If I play D I will hold up in a tower and defend it. I only have issued if they zerg me with 4 or more folks at the same time.

My 3 man team has often mad the "difference" in a battle.

My DK and 4 Shammys do really well in AV. Just dont get to close to the enemy and chain lightning alot. And everyone will love you when ever your healing the tank no matter what your spec is. Or when you chain heal a group people infront of you.

As far as tower defense I generally spread my guys out inside the tower as to not keep them so close that an AOE attack kills them all. It works pretty well for me and if I get over whelmed i just release my elementals.

I even did WSG today. I kinda felt bad for the other team because all i really did was guard our flag. They did get a single one from me. Down side was the match lasted all 25 min.

Bottom line is 5 of anything I think would be good in AV. Its a large enough group that most people will probably not hate you for taking up space.
