looks like $30 for both wow and bc. so add $10 * 3 to my estimate... or $145 total
Battlechest is the way to go for sure.
microcenter (are a bit sparse) or compusa(going out of business) both have the battlechests for 29 bucks before tax. pretty much cant beat that price and you could even try to sell off the game guides to make some of it back :P since each chest comes with CDs, CD keys and brady game guides for the core and TBC expansion lol. I think currently the cost to do an online upgrade with blizz to TBC is 19.99 or 29.99 so even its a long time before you are into that content the savings now is worth it and its not like your monthly cost changes at all either.

Not being rude but i believe multi-boxing is a rich man's stuff? or is it not true anymore?

If someone decides to do multi-boxing, I wouldnt think money is even an issue to him.

    PC + Software + Electricity + Monthly fee + Time investment = $$$

And no, dont play your friends' accounts. When you get to Lv70 and have good gear, you will all of a sudden found your password no longer valid when you log in. =)

I'd say its less of "rich mans stuff" and a more a case of "not for kids" :-)

As has been said before, £40 a month for 5x WoW is fuck all.
I spend that in an evening in the pub. The PC/setup required for 5-boxing would be pretty much the same as you'd have to invest in a decent Crysis PC.

QFT, you dont have to be rich you really just need a reasonable income. Hell Ive spent more at the bar/pub/liquer store than I have on all of my monthly fees combined lol, its an entertainment cost and is arguably better for you :P

but sorta back on topic, to sum it up you will not save money by waiting till you are 60 to buy TBC because TBC seperate is most often more expensive than buying it bundled with the base and the monthly cost does not change.

And agreed, any computer with 3-4gigs of RAM and can run crysis at a decent res +high detail can run 5 WoWs without breaking a sweat. and such a computer can be built for under 2 grand, including monitors.

Hehe, frankly true especially the "not for kids" one. =) I actually spent more $ on buying magazines and stuff for my sister.

Just a slight correction. CompUSA is not going out of business. They are, however, closing all of their brick and mortar stores, so you generally can get VERY good deals on everything. I wandered in the other day and saw EVERYTHING with a 10% off sticker printed, then a slash through it in marker "15%". So, I'm going to wait until the end of January (they all mentioned February as being their closing date) and see what they mark all the 15/17" monitors down to.

CompUSA's shuttin down their stores? When was this announced? News link pzl :P If this is true I'm gonna have to go on a small shopping spree at my local one before it's gone...

Back on topic...kinda...just because someone's rich doesn't mean they're willing to throw it away either, some may be cheapskates too and it might even be part of why they have the money to begin with ;) I grew up knowing every dollar counted so I have no trouble cutting costs where necessary so I have more available for other needs or even wants like multi-boxing ;D

Kind of ominous, and from their own site (I googled "compusa closing stores" and got this):
