Default New PC for 5-boxing, decent budget

    Hey all.

Got about £1500-1600 to spend, and looking for new complete system minus the mouse.

I already have a 19" monitor, so will be looking for a dual-monitor setup. I also have a 250gb hard drive going spare, so will be putting that in too.

If the spec is fine, then how would you set up and run 5 accounts from this rig? I'd like to gain maximum benefit from the SSD, and am torn between using it for the OS, or just for the WoW clients alone.

    Comments / suggestions please?

Here's what i've got so far:

You don't need to spend that much for a quality 5-boxing machine. I was able to get mine, excluding monitor, for around $1,500 from www.buyxg.com

Nice spec! Should be really good to multibox with this rig.

I agree with Owltoid that you can get a decent 5 box rig for less. But I guess if you will be using it for more then just WoW or for future games it's nice

Instead of the OCZ ssd you picked I would recommend the intel second generation M25. It is faster specially on small random reads which supposed to be just what you need for wow (and/or your os). It is also a little bigger (only of use when you put both the os and wow on the ssd).

I think you will be best off running the os from the F1 and wow from the SSD, as I have read from some users with some other users they are running wow fine from an SSD with just one install. But I guess it depends on your preference.

I run WoW on my SSD with one install and no symlinking. I use the "cheap" RiData 32GB and everything is smooth. Before I used to run my OS on the SSD, but I got tired of navigating to the regular HD whenever i wanted to save things. It's nicer to just have my regular HD as the default. Plus, even as a 7200RMP it's plenty fast for what I need.

Nice spec Purely personal preference but I would probably drop 12GB ram in there ps am I right in saying that that is the OcUK shopping basket ?

Lol yes Who, it's an OCUK basket

I've also been asking their advice too, as they know their components and always manage to save people a couple hundred £'s.

For now though i'm going to try and be patient and wait for the dx11 cards to come out. Even though I'll unlikely purchase one, it'll at least drop the price of the dx10 cards.

So for now i'm back to theorycrafting for a couple more weeks! I've been waiting months to get this started, so a few more weeks won't kill me lol.
