Default Collecting materials for endgame gear.

SOOO my 4X locks are almost 80, and i've decided to get them each an ebonweave robe.

I've broken it down to the most basic components.

------------------------------Standard amount needed for 4 robes
    880 frostweave
    176 infinite dust
    1280 crystalized shadow
    4 eternium thread
    4 frozen orb
------------------------------If i use my shadowcloth tailor on EVERY peice of ebonweave
    560 frostweave
    56 infinite dust -done
    640 crystalized shadow
    4 eternium thread --done
    4 frozen orb

Has anyone else undertaken such a feat? i'd like to hear thoughts on grinding the mats myself and making them, vs buying mats on the AH, vs buying the completed products on the AH.

if dailies don't bother you, it's much faster to do dailies than grind mats. 4 toons, you can easily generate 1k a day from dailies alone.

Its alot cheaper than you think, On my server 4x robes would cost around 2k gold. Infinite dust will be your gold sink

I had 2 tailors up and running as much as I could making ebonweave and also did all my dailies as much as I could. In the end, out of 3 Spreists I bought all 3 ebonweave gloves right off the AH when they would show up and I collected the mats to make 2 of the 3 robes and bought the remaining items from AH for the last one.

I'm really just not patient enough to collect something with a 4 day cooldown, even with the spec for double production, I'd rather farm the money right now and buy it asap and get back to playing.

I'm actually quite frustrated right now since I got the recipe for www.wowhead.com/?item=Spellslinger's Slippers no one seems to have any spellweave on the AH, and I've only managed to make one so far.

Like SuperNova said dailies are where it is at. I swear before I quit I was making ~2k in about 2 hours from doing dailies in ice crown.

With this kind of gold coming in every day it is just easy to sit back and buy stuff off the AH.

ebonweave robes are going for about 950g on my server...i might just level to 80 and do a few days of dailys and get them all pimped out.

I made all the stuff with blacksmithing for my paladin. The 22h cool down for titansteel sucked. As for my 4 druids. It was insanely faster to just grab 1300g from a round of dailies and just buy their epic crafted gear.

Remember that time spent is also "money," especially when you can spend that time on dailies instead. The only time I would spend is figuring out if it's more cost effective to buy the robes or the mats.

Edit to add: I've been auctioning a lot of my tradeskill mats for some time now, with the exception of whatever I need for leveling my skills and a few items left aside as a "just in case" kind of thing. Since the cost of materials will go down over time, selling off my mats now and buying them (or the finished items) later gets me a net profit overall.
