  • when you really really need DPS, you won't be able to blow enough cooldowns to live long enough to do what you were trying to do (over-aggroing the pet, etc.)
  • when you can't DPS enough to do it, two BM pets with mend pet glyphs can just outlast it.

I went from from solo leveling my hunter to to 70 as MM to having to go BM once I hit Northrend, I kept drawing aggro within the first few shots alone till I swapped. Now I multibox 3 hunters with a priest leading for heals when they need it. Two of my hunters are BM and one is MM for the Trueshot Aura, but I keep Aspect of the Viper up on them at all times. 1, for the infinite pool of mana, and 2, it cuts their damage in half so they don't draw aggro off my pets. I also do that for my main hunter when I solo him. If I swap to anything else, then my bears, wheiter on my solo hunter, or my 3 hunters, can't hold the aggro. The dps is awesome, but keep in mind your survival is more important. As long as you do atleast 1% damage on a target before your pets kill them, you still get the loot and xp (if not grey).
