6 Boxing Rom
So far the game is pretty interesting..its an unfinished wow basicly, they are at the stages wow was years ago before they limited the macro and boting abilities, so its pretty neat what you can do with addon building and so forth.
I've had 5 or 6 clients running but have yet to join up and party...just feeling my way around...gathering in the game is a serious pain..but it shows promise with all the new addons players are building daily..for a free game its not bad at all.

In my opinion, gathering is not worth the time. Like you mentioned, it's rather cumbersome to have to continuously click the nodes to gather one item at a time. WoW used to be like this until a fairly recent patch where they made it so you gather all items in a single shot. I'm sure it's a matter of time before they "fix" it. All of the recent RoM patches are focused on stream-lining gameplay.
Also, the items that you gather are not very useful (yet) for any profession. The crafted items are, for the most part, garbage at higher levels. You can make some really nice level 15-25 gear (Ventis.RS for casters) but who wants to stay at level 15-25 for long? The quest rewards at 25 are better than the rare crafted items.
For the features that aren't just yet implemented in-game, I recommend getting the add-on called Streamline. It adds things like auto-repairing on vendor open, auto-retrieve mail items and delete empty mail when items are taken from mailbox, auto-accept quest (a must-have for boxing), and single-click class swapping; and a lot more.
Everyone who plays this game always points out that the game is free. While this is true, it does not have any monthly subscription fees, it is designed to feed off of the need for instant gratification. You can spend 2 years playing your toons to gear them out, or spend some cash on gearing them a little quicker.
The game does not have any limits on how powerful you can become, but at some point it becomes impractical to enhance your gear. It would take over 50 years of doing dailies to farm out the materials needed (Purified Fusion Stones and Arcane Charges [used to upgrade items]) to be able to make a well-geared Tier 10 item, if you didn't use the cash shop. If you did use the cash shop, it would cost something like $30,000 (like I said, impractical).
I see it as a graph of time versus value, where initially time=value. The more time you spend, the more valuable (or powerful) you become. Conversely, the more value you add (by purchasing diamonds) you're creating a "virtual time-lapse". At some point, your time vs. value comparison is no longer linear and slowly becomes exponential (with a limit). You hit this when your single toon is soo incredibly geared that you can solo end-game bosses and farm high-value items which you can sell for large amounts of gold, which can be used to purchase diamonds...making it so you never have to spend another penny in the game.
So, you can reach this break-away point by spending a shitload of real money, playing the game for many years, or Multi-boxing to farm high-value items (bound items can be sold by pk trading; very common) -- or a combination of all 3. This game has huge potential for multi-boxers. However, the first part of that curve is very painful since your gear sucks, you get a lot of attention as a multi-boxer...so naturally, you get PK'd a lot and you lose the crappy gear.
I'm at the point where I'm finally able to rake in some profits (and gear enhancements) by selling the quest reward items for the level 45+ quests. These items are typically Stam IX, X, Int IX, X, Ability X, etc. stones. I'm 4 boxing (but I can easily run 6; just didn't feel like creating 6 e-mail accounts from the start), so I get 4 of each reward item.
Also, now that my gear is betting better, I can create 5 new characters, powerlevel them to 10 (in 20 minutes) for the 10 free arcane charges each and make Tier 6 mana stones. I can sell these stones on the AH for a damn good profit allow me to further enhance my gear. It would take a very long to to do this solo.
Overall, I'm having fun and I highly recommend playing.

6 boxing ROM
Im having a blast in the game actually, it basicly is Wow on a smaller scale, I rolled onto one of the new PVP servers which still is really new so not a lot of 50/50's yet. PK'ers aren't that huge a problem yet, since Im in a pretty large guild that tends to camp pk'ers till they log off for the day.
I've sorted out my computer crashes..it was either buggy addons or currupted ROM installs, I reinstalled ROM without any addons and have been running 5 ROM's flawlessly, running the 6th ROM client really starts to kill my quad core which I find odd and happy at the same time, I guess maybe I could use that as an excuse to start looking into an I7 system shortly.
My question for you Farleito is about Mana and Power Stones, I just read up all I could on using aggregators and Arcane Transmutes...my brain is still processing it all, but if you've got it figured out I'd love to ask some specific questions.

Basically, mana stones are one of the things used to make equipment more powerful. Every item has a tier, all the stuff you find at 40+ is tier 3. For every tier over 3, an item gets a 10% boost to all stats. So a 600 damage staff with 10 int on it that you tier to 4 will then deal 660 damage and have 11 int.
To tier an item, you need to transmute it with 3 mana stones of the tier you wish it to be.
To make a mana stone, you need to combine one item with one fusion stone. Because the highest tier item you can find or buy is t3, you can only make t3 mana stones.
To make a higher tier mana stone, you need to combine 3 of the same tier to make one of the next highest tier.
So, to make the t4 item from the example, you would need 9 t3 mana stones, in order to make 3 t4 stones, so you could tier one item to t4.
You can also tier an item to something higher. I took my own staff from 3 to 6 in one hit, but the higher you go, the more gold you need to buy items, and the more arcane transmutor charges you need. To make a tier 3 item t6, you need about 120 arcane transmutations. to make a t10 (the hypothetical max), you need about 10,000 transmutations.
You get 10 charges for getting to level 10, and then you can buy more at a rate of 1 charge for 30 daily tokens, of which you can get 100 per day.
So being able to powerlevel 5 toons to 10 in 20 minutes is very valuable.
There's also some fun stuff with the stats. If you have questions, ask them!

Alptraum, if you would like...I could explain more about the gear modifiers over a voice chat. I can PM you my vent info if you'd like.
The info that Krugsmash mentions merely scratches the surface. There's a lot to explain, such as why you use purified fusion stones (cash shop item) vs. "non-purified" fusion stones (buy with gold), which items to use them on...etc. ... the difference between clean and dirty stones. Vahtos "matches"... High durability items...Enhancement runes...production runes...
Also, around level 45, you will be getting a TON of gear with Stamina X and IX, Dexterity X and IX, etc... It is VERY important that you hang on to these. You will make a lot of money if you pick the right ones. Stam is one of the most expensive clean base stats.
I would love to create a guide on this site which covers a lot of this, but it will take a while.

Thanks for all the info both KrugSmash and Farleito, actually I can't wait for you to finish your guide Farleito some of that has been super helpful the autoloot macro wow that saves me so much time, however the quest accepting thing..only works someplaces...I noticed well testing it that in the starting town (pioneer village) it worked about 1/4 of the time for me..but still every time saver helps.
I was seriously frustrated with PK'ers on the new pvp server..and stoped playing for a few days..when you get pk'ed 20 times in the first hour its not a lot of fun anymore..till I discovered you could teleport to another starting zone in your skill book...WOW is all I can say..i've yet to even seen another person near Obsiddian stronghold....its great my mages suddenly jumped in leaps in bounds with levels well nobody was killing them.
Now my only problem from the PK'ers was on death you can't assign another leader and have your macros work....my lead mage was always dying and my alts suddently stoped working...even though I thought I wrote my macro's so that anyone could assign themselfs leader and take over..that dosnt seem to be the case, and that frustrates me silly.

I figured i'd hijack my own topic and make it into a ROM multiboxing journal to discuss my progress within the game.
So after avoiding silverspring like the plague and not being PK'ed very 5 minutes leveling started to happen, and more so my wife wanted in on it, so I droped my tank from group and we just AOE things silly together, she usually runs as P/M and I run M/P so we cover all the bases.
Tonight tons of blues droped...a blue dagger x2 and multiple blue recipes, this totally makes up for last night where we both got ganked 2-3 times by some asshat lvl 27 who was convinced he wanted to keep rolling us for our gear. *like wow whats going threw his head that lowbies would have anything worth while* our gear was crap...unfortunantly I did lose a lvl 5 blue robe I had forgot i had in my bag..so that did rather hurt.
Gold report..on just my 5 mages from quest rewards I have roughly 100K + all together about 550k in gold total which is pretty freaken awesome. I started whiping my guild into shape and yelling at slackers...trying to get more ppl pushed over that level 20 hump..but the PK'ers really knock the wind outta peoples sails I think once they get over 15 and are now bait....bunch of lvl 50 legend asshats running around silverspring killing anyone that moved dosnt help at all.
So ends another night of Rom'ing...

ganking
I feel for ya, had the same problem when I was on a PVP server. Its just a joke really they see a multiboxer and go "lets gank him till he quits the dirty cheater"..... Can't see that changing any time soon.
Re-rolled on a PVE server and cruising along nicely.
An addon to try is nkMulti from curse.com its fantastic makes leader changes, following and all sorts of tricks possible.
My groupies
K/W tank
P/K heals
M/P dps x 4
