    Default dropping support for pre 1.9

    first: DON'T PANIC

    second: your license is forever, which means you get all updates for free. just download, install, run and transfer.

    v1.9 has been out since the beginning of May and i have decided to drop support for the prior versions. this will result in keyclone coming up 'expired'. when that happens, please do the following:


    1. download the latest version, and install
    2. run. the new one will also pop up as 'expired'
    3. click the transfer button... type in your email address... and hit ok
    4. close your keyclone
    5. check your email... click the link
    6. select the old system-id on the webpage that pops up
    7. click 'transfer' on the webpage
    8. restart keyclone

    should take about a minute. if you don't receive the email, check your spam or trash folders.

    if you are still stuck, just drop me an email (keyclone -at- solidice.com) and i'll get you squared away.

    Why?

    I understand the need to not invest lots of time helping people with old software, but I'm perfectly happy with 1.8 and don't want to upgrade. 1.8 does everything I want and 1.9 has problems for some people.

    So why actively force people - even people who aren't a support drain for you - to upgrade?

    Just leave me in peace with my 1.8.

    I can't recall a single issue that Rob hasn't fixed or otherwise addressed. There is certainly no one posting "I spent time with rob working on my keyclone issues, and he just couldn't fix it" So I would say the people having problems with 1.9 are average, but it seems they all get solved (or go away). Seems like you're argument here is kinda flimsy.

    Bug fixes from 1.8 to 1.9 are well worth any hassles you come across (IMO, considering there has been no huge detrimental issues with 1.9).

    I've guided a few people (that have NO business tinkering with their PCs) through 1.8->1.9 upgrades flawlessly. It's literally, so easy a cave man could do it.

    And meh, when you have a lot of users changing their licenses, email gets slow, news @ 11. Unless your ISP / Mail server is eating it.

    I agree with you on this, keyclone 1.9 doesn't work under linux (crashes after a few minutes) by blocking keyclone 1.8, i can't use keyclone at all anymore.

    crashes in linux for me too. There was tabbing and mousing going on. not sure what the culprit is...

    i've found out how i'm getting the problem... in order to duplicate my problem, all i have to do is hold down RIGHT CLICK, and tap left click...and kaplow!

    Well after griping , I thought I should balance it out by saying that I love the new version of keyclone and I'm glad I upgraded.

    It's been worth it for the maximizer changes alone. I box different amounts of characters and I tended to have one maximizer layout for 5 and just used that if i was boxing 3 or 4.

    However with the maximizer presets I can change my config really quickly.

    For example, last night I wanted to quest with my 4th shaman in the party. 10-15 seconds had the new screen layout set up, and allocated and I was off and running. While doing PVE i would be quite happy with having 1 big screen and 3 small ones tiled down the side, however for PVP I think I would prefer 4 equal size screens (I think Maximiser has this).
    So now I can do so really quickly.

    I retried twice and it worked. Probably a lot of people trying to do this at the same time.

    I don't mind that KC wouldn't answer me if I ever needed support (I never have, other than an unresolved problem running across multiple machines) but don't stop my software working overnight.

    I kicked off the transfer process half an hour ago and don't have a response yet, and it's nothing to do with my email server - my GameCommander Pro registration email just arrived 30 seconds after I registered.

    Christ. All I wanted to do is login with what little spare time I had and do some fucking instances and I can't do jack shit thanks to this spur-of-the moment last minute announcement.

    I don't expect paid-for software to stop working overnight. That's complete bollocks.
