Default Little Tips and Tricks For Boxers

Just looking for little tips and tricks you have picked up along the way while boxing. Not posts that are a wall of text, but just little bite size nuggets of info you have picked up while boxing that you wish you knew before you started or just something cool you want to pass along.

To start here's a tip that's a little pun on the title:

If you are running a bunch of small windows on one monitor download a tooltip mod like TipTac or TinyTip . After you install it set the scale of the tooltip to 150% or 200%. This makes it much easier on the eyes when you need to find things in your bags or compare equipment or whatever in those small windows.

    Wow, that is really nifty!

For myself, I use BindPad somewhat extensively to conserve on bar space. http://wow.curse.com/downloads/details/5002/

Also, if your healer isn't your "main" as in my setup, using a macro to have a heal/buff for each of your characters is nifty. For instance, me:
    ctrl-1 =
    /target Nimr
/cast [modifier:alt] Blessing of Light; Flash of Light

    ctrl-2 =
    /target Nimr
    /cast [modifier:alt] Purify; Holy Light

Thus I save space by being able to buff Nimr or heal him just by holding down alt or not.

Use a barmod add on (like bongos) to let you make your in game hotkeys look like your keyboard/xkeys...

then on your main add matching icons (just empty macros) for what each key does on the clones...

This is a huge help to me because i'm working on 2 multibox groups and still play my main. Now I can see at a glance what my hotkeys are setup as on any of them. I adjust to each setup much faster now.

Bongos not only exposes more action buttons to you, but also allows you to assign keystrokes directly to macros without even having to put them on a shortcut bar.

With the macro window open, enable Bongos' binding mode, hover over the icon for an existing macro and press the hotkey you want to assign. Bingo.

I've been boxing for about 8 months and didn't realise that until this weekend just gone, and that was by accident!

Some addons like SorrensTimers, DoTimer and CooldownTimers have an option to broadcast spell cooldowns and durations to the rest of your party.

Addons like these can be very useful for boxers - keeping track of the soulstones from all the warlocks, watching the priests' Psychic Scream cooldown, seeing how long Sunder Armor has left on the mob, before I take this big pull let me check how long it will be before Shaman resurrection or Druid battle rez is available, etc. All without having to look away from your main toon.

Just make sure you have the addon of your choice installed on all your toons and that you have enabled timer communication in the options. All these mods have it turned off by default.

    Default Looting

On my main character i fill all the slots of his bag with 1 of whatever the linen i will be looting , that way he picks up all cash and linen, then 2nd character on main system will pick up any magic items and disenchant them.

My 2 Cents. I use to make a new macro for every spell, like /assist focus /cast whatever. Now though i have one macro /focus party1 for one of the buttons and the second button is /assist focus so whoever is leader of my group is focus (so if one dies i promote the other) then i hit the assist button and then click whatever button i need. So it gets rid of the countless macros -.- hate macros lol

If you find you have quests all over the place, have a mage give you a port to Shattrath. You can then fly to the starting towns in Hellfire Peninsula and set your hearth to the Inns there. Then it is a short flight to Shatt and you can use the city portals there to get around quickly.

You can do this at any level, you will know the flight path out of Shatt to the starting towns automatically, so don't waste time corpse dragging yourself through level 60 plus areas to find an Inn.

This is especially useful if you are running multiple classes who might not have a trainer in the city you are currently closest too.

You don't even have to fly to Hellfire since you start out neutral with both Aldor and Scryer and can bind at either inn in Shatt.

Nice, they must have changed that. I tried to bind a long time ago and couldn't get anything. I'm glad too, since flights in Outlands are expensive.

Another quick way to zip around is to do this quest in Dustwallow Marsh and never turn it in. Then you can port back and forth from Stormwind to Theramore anytime you need. Saves a ton of travel time.
