Default Which would be faster leveling wise.

While I was 2-boxing my shamans, I was thinking about how much exp I was earning. I was arguing with my friend which would be faster: 2-boxing, or leveling one of the guys to a level, then the other. I just want to know what everyone thinks would be better.

2-boxing will let you kill faster and get quests done faster, but you get less exp and run out of quests quicker. Which do you think is faster?

    Default

I leveled the Zins at the same time. 5 level 60s in maybe 10 days played? Keep in mind that I PvPed too and had never leveled in those instances before.

Non collection quests might have been faster had it been optimized.

Fastest to 60 is probably quests + instances. Dunno on 61-70 yet.

    Default

    When 2-boxing:

    Exp/killing = 50%*2 chars
    Exp/hour on gathering-quests = 50%*2 chars
    Exp/killing-quests = 100%*2 chars
    DPS = ~100%*2 chars

In total each of your chars will get roughly the same exp/hour as you would if soloing, assuming they're both attacking. However, that's about twice the exp you'd get on a single char - and if you then pick your classes/talents/totems so that your chars boost eachother you really start moving.

And last but not least you're far less likely to wipe, and you gain rested exp twice as fast.

Also keep in mind that elite exp is higher and you can blaze through elites if you know what you are doing. The BEST exp is likely to be quests + instances of the right level.

Non elites are too slow to find, slow to respawn and give poor exp for a group.

If you were to optimize quests to only do the ones that were non collection, it would be possible that questing alone was faster - but I am not so convinced thats possible given that many steps of questlines require collections - which slow you down.

  5. #5

    Default Yea but...

Well since I only have 2 guys (I can't afford more than $30 a month now), would I still be able to do the elites in instances? Or what would I be limited to.

    Default Well..

What if I was to level both of them vs level each seperate. I mean I love playing both guys at once in the same party, but it just seems so slow as if level 10 was level 40, and quests seem to run out really fast.

Levelling both at same time = twice as fast. Give or take a few hours /played in the far end.

Until lvl 20 levelling is far too easy to be worth dualboxing, but after that when some mobs are actually half a challenge you should try google to find one of the many great free guides out there to get an idea of where you can get quests. If you're just farming mobs or doing "get 10 snout"-type quests your only advantage is that you're less likely to die, but on the "kill 20 skeletons" you'll be doing them twice as fast thus slightly boosting your exp/hour, and in either case you can multiply that with 2 (seeing as you're doing 2 chars).
