Am I doing something wrong?

Your 80 can not be linked with any of the accoutns being boosted. I just wanted to make sure that is clear.

But, why?
RaF #1 and RaF #2 will be linked therefore getting 3x exp, despite the fact that RaF #1 is linked with Veteran #1 (lvl 80)? or will the fact that RaF#1 not getting 3x exp from the VETERAN mess up RaF#1 getting 3x exp from RaF#2?

You're right about the 3x EXP. I can't believe I didn't think of it.
However, you're 80 CAN be linked to one account.
Infact, it needs to be if you want to gift levels to that account.

Just remember you'll only be able to gift levels to the account that recruited you.

Still, I knew i'd be playing boosting one char (technically, for what i ultimately need from this) at a time, so it isnt too big of a deal.

The 80 cant be linked directly to any of the accounts (as far as I have experienced).
i.e.
80 -->a--->b--->c-->d

acct "a" will not get RAF bonus.

But the experience bonus (3x) that acct 'a' benfits from could either come from 80->a (if not a level 80) OR a->b, right?
Why should one affect the other?

I have no idea why they did it, that is just my experience. When I level a group now I use a seperate unlinked acct to boost 4 accts that are linked.

100% backup multibocks saying level 80 can not be directly linked. I ended up getting 3 more accounts when this came out to get around this.

edit: having 4 toons getting the 3x experience really makes leveling go fast if you are boosting. I would say it is worth the £15 for a transfer.

I've never had trouble with RAF while boosting from a linked account. Mind you I set my up slightly different with

A->B->D
A->C->E

It works for me while I'm playing 5 characters of the same level, or while boosting from A with an 80.
Therefore B/C don't only get RAF from A, they get it from D/E aswell, so the A>B>C>D>E with A boosting
shouldn't have a problem with B getting RAF bonus.... "shouldn't"
