Timing Spells
I am trying to understand the timing on spells.
So lets say ABC spell has a cooldown of 10 seconds.
Also ABC spell has a cast time of 2 seconds.
Does that mean that after I cast ABC spell it will be back up in 8 seconds or will it be back up in 10 seconds?
So I guess what I am asking is does the cool down start as soon as I attempt to cast a spell or after the spell completes. I am trying to get enough commas in between spells so I am not clicking on cooldowns.
Also do instant spells cause a 1 second or a 1.5 second global cooldown?
BTW fur you are the man the DPS macro you posted bumped my dps almost 500 per shaman makes a big big difference when farming heroics.

Cooldowns start after the cast and it depends on the instant spell. Some have a shorter cooldown.
Example is a DK in unholy presence.

Pretty much every spell incurs a GCD.
However, if the spell is longer then 1.5 seconds cast, then the GCD is part of the spell cast.
That's why you can spam Shadow Bolt or Fire Ball.
Instant casts, incur the GCD, so you have to wait 1.5 seconds until you can cast again.
If another spell was exactly 1.5 seconds cast time, there'd be the same delay until you can cast another spell.
However, the instant would be castable while running, while the 1.5 cast time would require you to be stationary.
When I'm making a click castsequence and am curious on the number of comma's to use...
I know that I spam at approximately 2 clicks per second.
In the second that I cast a spell, I will click once for the spell and once for a comma.
After that, if the spell has a recast delay of 18 seconds, I need 36 comma's extra.
If the spell is like Flame Shock (castable every 6 seconds) but I don't want to cast until it expires, then I look at the duration instead of the recast delay; this is true for most dots out there.
