Paletress Tactics (Heroic)

Looking for dedicated tactics to downing her on heroic.

(I simply hope everyday that its Eadric. He's cake. )

I'll add to the original post with this: any mixed teams, especially with a holy priest, having luck with her?

The combination of fears and burst DPS both on the tank and a DPS (she seems to pick the low DPS and hit them with her DD twice in 2 seconds after checking many logs) makes this hell on my healing.

After fear I'm using the click to move interact with target, but if I get them too close they start eating the nightmare's melee range AE. If I don't get them close enough, after a fear (or more) they're too spread out for my priest to get them all with her AE's. Really struggling.

4 grounding totems and a burst of chain heal here sure would be nice.

I'm really not even close. I think I MAY have gotten the nightmare to 50% once.

Hell this is tough even if you dont box, if its a decent group you can do it but if some of your dps is lacking forget about it. Sorry I can't comment on her since I have done the place once with her on Normal and even on Normal she was tough!

if you have a shaman in your group, setup a macro to purge the renew off of the shadow mob that the Paletress casts on it during phase 2. That renew heals the shadow mob 22k every 3 seconds for 9 seconds. My 2nd attempt on her in heroic last night was successful using the purge tactic. Also save bloodlust for phase 2 to help you dps the shadow mob down as fast as possible.

I have such a keybind set up but to be honest I'm already micro-tasked on this fight so far.

I know the HoT is negating damage but I'm not even close to bursting the nightmare down as yet for this to be my priority issue. I'm simply struggling to keep my team standing in this phase.

I wonder if there's someway to direct most (all?) of Paletress aggro to the tank during this phase? She's eating my healer/DPS alive.

I hear ya. I did horrible on this fight as well. I think it was the renew because it felt like I had virtually no DPS on the shadow mob.

I will have to try the purge tactic. That was mentioned in other strats I read as well. I did read one suggestion to kite the mob around and that causes Paletree to follow you as well since she is linked ot the shadow somehow. I am not sure if this stops her from casting though.

If your tank is a Paladin, Divine Sacrifice will have 30% (base) or 40% (2 points into Divine Guardian) of damage taken by your party redirected to the Paladin. With AoE heals, this might be good, as you can top them all off by a bit, rather then having to hit one of them for a whole lot.

Make sure you drop your tremor totems - those are a life saver.
I usually position my toons close to the wall, droping those tremor totems and then blow heroism as soon as she becomes immune and kill that add asap.

For a mixed group it's a lot harder since what usually kills you are those fears in combination with her 5k damage on random toons. You really have to heal through her damage and have the tank focus on the add.

• tremor totem / fear protection on the tank/healer if available
• group up and use AE heals for group damage
• purge/dispel the renew ASAP (try not to let it tick)
• keep taunting her with the tank, seems to help redirect some of the random damage back to tank
• interrupt her nukes, not sure if both or only one of them are able to be stopped

Yeah, my first attempt sounds similar to your situation. I ran out of mana trying to kill that shadow mob. The longer that phase takes, the more stress it puts on your group with fears, smites, etc. I was amazed at how fast I killed that mob the 2nd time without the renews healing it back up (especially during fears).
