Thread: Broken RaF exp?

  1. #1

    Default Broken RaF exp?

    Last night I was happily mowing my way through Stratholme; my son was playing his Death Knight and performing the horridly boring task of looting. Lets call his account “B”, and the main account “A”.

    To maintain synergy with the RaF I set up account “C” to link to account “B”, and then account “D” linked to “C”; finally account “E” is linked to “A”.

    After a couple of Baron runs – no stupid horsey drops…*sigh* I noticed that account “C” was not gaining levels. On the next pull I watched the second monitor; all the girls were standing next to each other, and my son was out looting away from the group. Both accounts “E” & “D” were receiving 600-750 exp per kill, account “C” however was only getting 230 ish. Even more troubling was the fact that all the rested bonus was gone on account “C”.

    Has anyone ever had this happen to them? I am totally perplexed as to the how and the why.

    Accounts C,D,&E are all created within a week of each other. 90-day date is October 2009

    Was your son's account B too far away to receive EXP at all or to be within range of the RAF bonus linked to account C? If he was off looting and was too far away to receive EXP, then there goes your RAF bonus on account C even though account C was close enough to the action to get EXP - it AND the account it's linked to have to both be within range of the kill.

    That would explain it if account “E” wasn’t getting RaF bonus; account “A” was the furthest away from the group doing the killing.

    "and my son was out looting away from the group" ... is the cause, account B was too far away for account C to get RaF bonus (as previous poster pointed out)

    This still does not make logical sense to me.

    Account “A” and &”E” are linked. Just for Shards and Giggles let’s say that account “A” was 60 yards away killing mobs.

    Account “B” is 30 yards away looting – Accounts “C”, “D”, and “E” are standing in the totem farm.

    Distance between linked accounts “A” & “E” is 60 yards; account “E” receives RaF bonus.

    Distance between linked accounts “B” and “C” is 30 yards – no RaF bonus.

    Distance between linked accounts “D”&”E” is negligible – account “D” receives RaF bonus.

    How is it logical that accounts “D” & “E” both receive RaF bonus; they are not linked, yet “C” does not get bonus?

    Am I still missing something here?

    Easiest way to check. Pull a mob that gives exp to the group where EVERYONE is at see if everyone gets the bonus.

    Ok, we have RAF set up like this:

    Main Account: A ----> E
    Death Knight: B ----> C ----> D

    If I'm understanding your RAF correctly, it seems very odd that "C" is the account which is not receiving the RAF.

    A and E, are entirely dependent upon their range, the other accounts mean nothing, since they're not linked to either.

    For B or D to receive RAF, C would need to be within proximity and level range.

    Yet, C is out of Rested experience, which means for an extended period of time, it was not getting RAF which is better then rested.

    I'm puzzled.

    Bingo!

    I will check it again tonight - if the pattern continues I will submit a ticket to find out why account "C" is getting shafted. It could have been a bug; or some quirk that may or may not be able to re-create; just wondered if anyone else had this happen to them before.

    Thanks

    Confirmed that "C" is somehow broken; I submitted a ticket today. I brought only the two accounts online together side by side - took them to Western Plaguelands to the undead. Primary account lvl 48 linked account 50. The primary account was getting 430 exp with bonus RaF reputation - account "C" 178 exp no RaF bonus on either the exp OR the reputation.

    No clue what to do next as I know that the folks who answer tickets have little power over something like this. I may try the website to see if I can get a Blue response.

    Thanks for the input thus far..

    That's weird.

    I could see accidently not linking an account or something.
    But if that were the case, there'd be a huge discrepancy in levels.

    But with only the two accounts on.
    One gets the RAF bonus and the other does not.
    That is very weird.
