Default When will they kick 'click'?

    Took this off of mmo-champion:

We allow players to use macros for convenience, especially when automating tasks that they do often. Where macros cross the line is when they are making the decision instead of the player. In the old-days, there were addons that would essentially target a player with a debuff and cure it. That crossed the line for us – the mod was playing the game instead of the player.

In the /castrandom case, players were sometimes using these macros to cast the ability that wasn’t on cooldown without having to recognize this fact or hit the right button. Players using this system had an unfair advantage against players that weren’t. Instead of having to cope with the complexity built into the class, players could just spam one key and have the game “do the right thing.”

We recognize that in some cases, certain classes are probably over complex or else the default WoW UI doesn’t provide the information you need in a form where you can quickly notice that say an ability has proc’d or another is on cooldown. In these cases, we would like to fix the class or UI problem, not require all of our players to use macros to get around the limitation. You can help us identify those situations where you feel overly-dependent on a /castrandom macro so we can start to address those problems.

We also recognize that players sometimes used /castrandom for options that were truly random and with no gameplay consequence, such as picking a random polymorph animal, companion or mount. In these situations, we want to give you specific commands you can use to get the desired functionality. We have no problem with you rolling the dice in this manner.
Basically I'm not going to get comfortable with the 'click' method, because I'm sure they'll axe it soon.

This is kinda why in EQ my stratagy was to pick a class based upon a single spell that I planed to spam. Cleric for CH for example.

Guys who play like mages for nukes and priests for heals will have an edge over the do it all shaman players after all this settles out.

Im dumping my DK for a 2nd prot pal, thats for sure. And moving out a few shaman for some mages/warlocks and/or priests.

/sigh they will not kick /click as this adds no functionality other than allowing to extend macros beyond 255 characters which it was intentionlly put into do. What I think they will try to nerf is /castsequence with commas for timing

    Yeah, I wouldnt be surprised.

Ah, good 'ol EQ1. Back in the day when my wife and I used to each 3-box EQ1 we were unaware of things like key broadcasts and we had to be constantly tabbing between windows to cast spell :P Though combat there was alot slower paced than modern MMOs.

The sky isn't falling. If / when they nerf it, we'll adapt, just as we have since the beginning.

Yep. Those first couple of days after 3.2 I was doing ok DPS doing it manually on the Shamen (FS/LvB, LB, CL). Definitely prefer 'click', but I can survive without it if necessary.

I'm sure this mostly came about because of Ret Pallies, but I also think they dont mind slowing down multiboxers when they get a chance.

Just wait though. Once subscription numbers start falling (as they will, someday), they'll be loving us!

    I agree with Fur...

I know a guy who plays a Ret Pally and does his own version of /castrandom... it's called the faceroll. I wish I was kidding, but he LITERALLY starts his abilities in priority order (CS, DS, Judge, Cons, Exo) and then just presses all 5 keys with his 4 fingers... just spamming all the buttons at the same time. It is ROFL funny to watch.

I asked him what he is going to do when he wears out the buttons 1-5... he said:
I will just move the abilities to 6-0!
    ROFL!!!!!

I doubt they will remove /click any time soon... but they may nerf the addition of commas in a /castsequence.....

I agree with Fur on this one.

Castrandom lets you put several situational spells on a button, which whether part of a sequence or not, could prior to 3.2 allow you to spam the button and get the correct spell eventually without even knowing it had proc'd.

Castsequences with or without comma's are making no decisions for us. They are not casting spells we have not chosen. They are essentially pressing button 1 every 10 seconds, button 2 every 15 seconds, button 3 every 6 seconds etc. You can choose to press the buttons in that order and on that timing manually if you desire. All the macro does, is allow you to push them in the order you desire at the timing you have chosen prior to the encounter.
