it doesn't. You need to be dismounted, otherwise leaving the instance will reset it.
I had that two times by now (mentioned in the other thread) - downed all three champions, making sure I got them trampled but I am still on my horses. I usually just reset it and do it again. Not sure if that is a bug or I am missing something (works fine after the reset).

It does, just tried it. I was dismounted and so were they. Came back and whole thing was reset.

The encounter bugs sometimes, but this is not the norm. When they come off horses, I run out and come back inside.
