Default Jousting and You: The unbelievably simple guide

For the life of me I honestly have no idea why people are having so much trouble with this, so here it is. disclaimer: this is not the 'best' way to do this, this is not optimal. This is button smashing at it's finest, literally rolling your hammy fist across the keyboard like you were some kind of fat fingered idiot. And it's easily enough to do any kind of jousting, heroic or normal. I have never failed with this method in regular (ran it 3 times yesterday and 7 today trying for that stupid trinket), and I have never failed in heroic (once yesterday once today) besides dieing once between the two parts. There is NO FINESSE OR SPECIAL TIMING OR TRICKS HERE. LITERALLY SMASH THE BUTTONS.

    PREREQUISITES:

Download Bartender, or Macaroon, or whatever

Make two buttons for all your toons and bind them to some keys

    button one:

    /assist <main>

    button two'

    /follow <main>

Zone into Trial of the Champions
    buff up.
put your guys on horsies. There is a big wooden door in the side of the room. DO NOT take the 3 horsies there. That is where you will set up for the fight, and you want those horsies in case your horsie dies. (It's pronounced horseeee)

Talk to the guy in the middle

move your guys over next to the big wooden door (this is where the champions will come out of). Put your slaves between two fresh horsies, backs to the wall Don't ever move them. Wait forever for the dialogue to finish. When tirion fordring says 'begin', 3 sets of easy mobs will move into the middle. If you're back against the wall they will not aggro you. Get 3 stacks of shield up on all your guys (hit 4 3 times)Run up with your main (the rest are still backs against the wall) and target one. hit your assist key. Now all your slaves should be targetting that one. CHANGE YOUR TARGET ON YOUR MAIN. Smash button 2. You have now hit the shield off that guy. Change to the third one (the one your slaves are not targetting) and hit 2 again. In this way all their shields will be down when they get to your slaves, as your slaves will take off the first guys' shield when you run them back to the group. Run back to your slaves and START SMASHING THE 1, 2, and 4 KEYS. ALL TOGETHER. SMASH SMASH SMASH. When one dies, target another, hit your assist key, and SMASH THE 1, 2, and 4 KEYS. ALL TOGETHER. SMASH SMASH SMASH. Repeat. Do this for the next group of 3.

Ok, you have killed the first two sets of 3 easy guys. Your main guy had all the aggro, so his horse is at maybe half life, prob a bit more. Run over and get him a new horse. There is no time between killing the 3rd set of 3 easy guys and the champions so just go ahead and do it now.

Pull the last set of 3 easy guys just like you did the first two. Smash smash smash.

    THE CHAMPIONS

As they head over, target one. doesn't matter which. hit assist, and SMASH YOUR BUTTONS 1, 2, 4 SMASH SMASH SMASH. You can move around with your main, but bring whichever you have focused to your slaves for meleeing, and can move your main out a bit to break their shields. Your main will probably lose his horse sometime. Good thing you are standing next to two fresh ones, right? When the champion goes down, target a new champion and SMASH SMASH SMASH. Run your main over the one champion that fell over every now and again - this 'tramples' them and doesn't let them get on a new horse. Repeat for the second and third champion. If you lose another horse, hop on the one right next to you again. If a champion gets back up on a horse, just focus them again and get them down quick. They get back on at something like 20% life only anyway. Congratulations, now they are all dismounted. Switch to your basic tank and spank. If you die between the dismounting, and the tank and spank, don't worry when you run back they're dismounted and you just smash them into the ground. If you have the undead guy he does a poison vial throw that puts a green puddle on the ground - don't stand in it. None of the others have done anything that I have to worry about at all.

    TIPS AND TRICKS

There are none. Don't move your slaves. Put them against the wall. Smash on the numbers 1,2,4 like a retard. Don't hit the number 3.

Great writeup. So simple even a fat fingered idiot like me could do it.

I see a lot of people reverting to the older leader and focus based systems for using vehicles. Adding extra keys for following and assisting a focussed char or assisting/following a char directly by name. I guess getting FTL to work for vehicles, isn't as common knowledge as I thought it would be.

Because it's not intuitive and it's clunky, annoying, and difficult to orchestrate because the mounts move funny. I envy you, that you stumbled upon the right method very quickly - I wasted 4 hours tonight trying different methods, as well as forum suggestions, and none of them worked even remotely well. The figure 8, the alts on the wall, and the "if you get dismounted just grab another one" - while I'm being chain trampled... yeah that worked out really well.

Spent about 600g in repair bills, but I'm not finished... I'll give these methods a try and see what I come up with... thanks for the post.

How does this work exactly? In reality I just get chain trampled even if the mount was only 2 feet away from me. I'll have 3 trample debuffs on me at once, and then they'll go apeshit and kill me once I'm out of stun.

this is on heroic? I tried heroic and although I was able to get through the first couple of waves with your great method I kept losing my target on my main for some reason so I couldn't remember which one I was supposed to be bashing as they were all intermingled with my team, the mobs were definitely going down well - guess I'll have to check keybinds and go farm some gold for repairs lol - thanks for the tips!

ok turned out to be a /cleartarget in my assist - I got through the 3 waves easily this time but the champions just wore me down, I only managed to kill 2

I noticed when doing the champions that they all ran over to my team even though I was the only one shield breaking and when they got to them there was an error message on my team screens like: cannot see target
when I was trying to melee I sometimes seemed to be the only one doing any damage.

tried on normal as well - no difference. 250g on repairs

I can see how this should be very easy because when the team did connect they went down pretty quick.
be great if someone made a vid of this because I'm obviously doing something very wrong

If your mount is getting low on hp don't wait to be dismounted. Ride over to a new mount and get it. If you get dismounted remember that this will also clear your toons focus'.

Yes this is on heroic. I really don't know why you aren't connecting. If they are literally backed right into the wall, there should be nowhere to face but forward, and the mobs should be in their field of vision. try tapping your interact with target key real fast for a bit of facing maybe?
