Default Keeping your team in the same group for BG?

I currently run a 5 man (1 Paladin & 4 Shaman) level 80, Heroic team and just started a new 5 man druid team with the idea of hitting the BG's for a first time. A kind of “learning the ropes” at the lower levels thing. I joined WG today, my first boxing BG at level 17, and much to my surprise my group was split into. One slave stayed with my main and the other three went to the second group.

What happened next was very comical to say the least. My three slaves currently use /follow party1 macro and ran off with the second groups’ leader. That was just the beginning of a very short BG run that seemed like it took forever.

I already knew I would be redoing macros but is there a way to prevent this split up and keep all my toons in the same group? I did enter with the "join as a group" option.

It used to be if you entered in as a group, then you (or someone else with a group) had the chance of being the group leader. However, I believe this was changed so its pretty much just random.

Your best bet (beyond the change the macros around) would be to ask nicely for leadership a few times till you get it (don't spam the leader) or ask that he put all your characters into the same group.

It also helps if you tell them what group your in when asking for leader, helps them avoid having to look. Example: /tell legolaselflol Hey I'm in here with a team of shaman, can you please give me leader (i'm in group 2) or if you want, you can move my 3 other characters (names..) into group 2 with me.

something like that. Also avoid sending the person a tell right at the start since theres usually joining spam (like in AV). Doesn't hurt to wait about 10 seconds or so to make sure the leader sees the tell.

If you cant get the leader and you are stuck with having you characters in different groups you can make direct healing macros which helped me out. Only thing that sucks is you lose out on group totems since you are in different groups like grounding totem.

I get 50% awesome people that are more than willing to help out and 50% non-awesome people that aren't willing to help out. I have come to determine that the lower level end of the brackets are the non-awesome people. So I'm hoping at 80 it changes a bit, I'll switch over into the 70-79 bracket today but probably won't pvp untill 75+ (besides wintergrasp).

This was a huge disappointment. I also just entered BGs this week and thought more often than not I would become the leader. Now I have to spend the start of every BG begging to have my guys in the same group.

One thing that helped was enabling Jamba's automatic acceptance when a BG "enter battle" pops. At least with an SSD (minimal load time), all 5 seem to enter the BG at the same time so at least they're grouped up. Before, when I clicked through all 5 windows, the Owltoids will be spread out and it's hard to convice some random raid leader (especially in AV) to search through and put them together.

I know there are some more experienced BG shamans around, maybe they will post any tricks they have.

When my Shammies dinged 80 I spent a weekend doing BGs but have now given them up completely due to this issue.

I didn't get a single game where the designated raid leader even responded to my request for Assist or to move my Shammies into one group. It's unbelievably frustrating to have your 5 spread out over 2/3/4/5 groups... I actually never did better than 3 groups in AV

It removes the synergy of lots of the totems and means I couldn't see the other Shammies in Pitbull to see detailed life/mana/target etc.

One weekend of that crap was enough, so I won't touch BGs again.

You know, they really need to abandon the idea of a "raid leader" in BG's. They should have a sub-group capability where by you could leave the 'group' you are in and start a new one with specific invitees while still under the overall "raid" umbrella.

Damn sere that a hell of a slap on that gif lol.

I guess best bet if your doing BGs and what not is to just have them /follow /assist your main guy name, vs having to deal with the whole can I get leader or can you put these shaman in my group.

I dunno, I'm not really seeing the funny in an animated gif taking up half of the thread length.
