Default Bootcamp, and some questions regarding it.

    Hey!
So I have decided to install bootcamp so I can use Keyclone. There were just so much I couldn't do with any other program!
But to do so, I hope to get some fast answers to the most vital questions.

    1. I have yet to install bootcamp, and need to know how big I have to make the partition. Im gonna have 3 versions of wow installed, windows 7and keyclone installed and a little extra space for updates. (thats all I need, right?) Are there anyone who have done the same, and who has some experience who could give me some advice? I could perfectly well calculate what I need as a absolute minimum, but I would really not risk running out of space when some updates show up, but nor do I want to make the partition bigger that necessary as OS X is my main platform, and the one I prefer after all.

    2. (I know this isn't really related to the forum, but) What drivers does bootcamp use in XP? Could I use a version of XP with no computer specific drivers to save space and process?

    3. Have there been any problems, or are there anything worth mentioning before I start installing bootcamp, wow and keyclone?

    Thanx in advance

You are going to love Keycloning

1 - I have a 60GB SSD for Windows. I run Vista, though, so it might take more room than XP or 7. My WoW folder is 14BG, and I use only one. I have 18GB free on my drive. That should give you a good idea of how much room you will need.

2 - I use a light version of Vista. Drivers come with Bootcamp (from the MacOS DVD), so I guess you don't need most of what comes with windows. You should install more up to date video drivers, though. The ones coming with MacOS X usually suck.

3 - Bootcamp/Windows installation is flawless. This only thing is : when you will reboot into windows install, Fdisk will propose you to reformat the partition you want to install Windows on. You may think that you don't need to do it since it already appears as windows formated. You should format it anyway (even a fast format is fine). I already ran into problem where the windows partition was not shown by the boot manager (alt key stuff) if it had not been formated.

    Thanx for fast reply!
With the numbers you mentioned, that is all you got on the HD?
Last question: is it possible to resize the partition after I have installed everyting?

Yes, I only have Vista and the big WoW folder on the HD. I use Windows only for gaming, and my only gaming (not on the PS3) is WoW currently.

Resizing the Bootcamp partition might be possible, but it is not a direct MacOS functionality. You could certainly use a Bootcamp backup utility (like Winclone, that's the one I use) to make a complete backup, resize somehow, and then re-inject your windows image, but it will probably not be that trivial.
